How to find a Good Writer or Editor
Category: Copy Writing | Date: 2001-10-12 |
If the time has come to put your thoughts on the web or in a special written document, yet you feel stuck for just the right words, allow me to offer a few suggestions. Have you considered the possibility of hiring a professional writer? Believe it or not, good writers are eager to help you with your important documents and their fees are not nearly as high as you might think. When you consider the old adage, "You only get one chance to make a first impression," spending a little money on making a positive name for yourself is of critical importance.
Of course, choosing the right person can present you with a bit of a dilemma. There are a lot of people who claim to be terrific writers, yet when you review their material, you are not impressed. How can you be sure that the person you are selecting is ultimately going to be the right person, the one who can truly present you effectively? A good rule of thumb when selecting your candidate is to be sure that they are willing to provide samples of their work. Now I don't mean samples of something they have written previously, but samples for the project you wish them to tackle. If they are willing to offer you a sample paragraph focusing on your particular subject matter, you know you are dealing with a professional. Once receiving the paragraph, you can easily determine if you like their writing style or if they represent you in a manner that aligns with your objectives.
Something else to keep in mind is that you know yourself. Don't let someone else convince you that they know what's best for you. Even if something is well written but it doesn't speak to your heart and doesn't reflect you the way you expected, tell the person that you are not satisfied. Every good writer wants your referrals, so they should be prepared to work on your material until you are pleased. Whether you are planning to create a dynamic business plan, profile, resume or preparing your lifelong manuscript, please make sure to seek the assistance of someone who knows what they're doing and can present you in a professional and expert manner.
