How Your Own Handwriting Can Dramatically Increase Your Sales

Direct mail is a very powerful form of marketing that can make any business a substantial amount of profit when used correctly. Like any other form of marketing it can also lose you a lot of money if the direct mail campaign is not effective.

Thankfully there are many simple techniques that you can do to increase the response to your direct mail campaign. The one I will discus in this article is a very simple technique that can make a substantial difference to the response of your direct mail campaign.

Firstly, to fully understand why this technique works so well, you need to think about how you open your mail. If you are like me I always open the envelopes that look like bills last - in fact sometimes I don't open them for a few days. The envelopes that look like advertising, you know the one's that say.

"You could win 1 million dollars..open here"

They go straight in the bin without me even opening them

BUT

I guarantee you that almost everyone that receives a handwritten letter in amongst their other letters will ALWAYS open the handwritten letter first - NO EXCEPTIONS!

What can you learn from this? Simple, you need to send out your direct mail in handwritten envelopes. The only problem with handwriting your customers names and addresses on your envelopes is the time it takes to do so.

Here's a little secret

How do you cut down the time it takes to handwrite an envelope by up to 90%?

Try this technique..

Print your envelopes out as you normally would BUT instead of just mailing it out handwrite the following in the top left hand corner of the envelope:

To John(customers name)
Regards Sam(your name)

This is a great technique that works extremely well. Cast your mind back to opening your mail again. What would you do if you saw an envelope like this? I'm sure you couldn't stop yourself from opening it straight away.

So from now on, use some form of handwriting on your direct mail envelopes and watch your response rate skyrocket!
