Where in Cyberspace Do Those E-Books Come From?

So you have finished your first E-Book and now you want to make it available. But you don't know how or where to set it up. Let's take it step by step. We have a file on our hard drive named kittyfur.exe and we know where the file is. Now lest's get it on the Internet so folks can download it.

Here is what you need. A website hosted on a server (note: most free hosting services will not allow you to store downloadable files). Since you have a quality host like Coyote Marketing (free plug? sure. http://www.makemoneyhowto.com/hostdet.htm) you have a place to store the file. If you have built your own site you are familiar with FTP. This is a program to allow you to access the server where your site lives for uploading your HTML and image files. You can download one called WS_FTP LE 5.08 for free from http://www.ipswitch.com/download

So you need:

1. Your E-Book file.

2. A place to park the file.

3. An FTP program to get it there.

Now that you have the tools, access your server. You should create a folder on your server to let your e-books live in (nothing worse than homeless E-Books). For the sake of convenience let's name it BOOKS. Open this folder and with your FTP program, find the file on your hard drive. Copy the file to your new folder and close the FTP program. That is all there is to it. NOT!!!

You have to get the information in front of your visitors. So now you need to add a link to your website and maybe for your Ezine. Even in a sig file on your e-mail.

Based on the information above the link would look like this: http://www.yoursite.com/BOOKS/kittyfur.exe (not a working link) When this is clicked on, or typed into your browser, the download is automatically started. If you have downloaded anything you know about the download screen. This applies to your free E-Book. But what if you want to sell it? Then you need a service like ClickBank. They charge a small commission for selling your E-Products and will even manage your Affiliate program so others can sell your E-Book for you. They manage ours. When your site link is clicked, they will be taken to the secure server of ClickBank (or what ever credit card service you use). From there the payment is collected and the customer is taken to your Thank You/download page where they simply click on a link to download the E-Book and bonuses. Then you can link them back to where ever you want them on your site.

Now you should make your E-Book more appealing on your site.
How?
Ever go to the store and look at the book racks? If all those books had gray covers with plain typed titles, how interested would you be? Covers sell books! If you are not able, or don't have the time, the small investment of having a nice E-Book graphic made for your site will sell 50 times better than a text explanation and a link. Guess what?
