Never - Ever - Fear Being Bypassed in International Trade
Category: E-commerce | Date: 2002-01-08 |
How often do you suspect you are being bypassed by a supplier or buyer? Do you have the nagging fear that somebody somewhere will cut you off, deprive you of the hard earned commission, and cheat on you?
We have observed that this cheat-phobia is well established among novices in international business, especially those who run their business activities using exclusively the Internet as a communication tool.
The feeling occurs very easily and results from the unique way in which the Internet interacts with human emotions and human psychology. A piece of electronic message triggers off actions which would never be considered if the information came from another way: by phone, fax, during a meeting. E-mail is regarded as a kind of official letter, a business correspondence coming to your inbox. You regard it as serious and even start to act on it! You start to act and THEN you are fearing that the other party might not be honest.
Master the three strategies listed below and get rid of your fears forever, so you will never have to write a message like this one:
Thanks for your reply. (...) Regarding the work I must admit that I was close to making some money when dealing in petroleum but was circumvented a few times and I am coming to conclusion that the Oil Business is not for honest people. I also closed the currency deal only to find out that the guy that was going to share the commission with me ran away with all my money. No one knows where he is now. (...)
As you know, I changed direction and mainly dealing with petroleum products now. I am still searching for a reliable supplier and often wonder if any of these deals are real. (...)
I would like to ask you if you have any REAL offers on Gold. I have a direct buyer in Poland that will buy any quantity and have no problem paying by S/LC. (...)
Could this have happened for real? The person above says he was circumvented a few times! In the oil business! And one guy has run away with all the money after a successful currency deal! But this person is still searching for a reliable petroleum product supplier. Would Shell be all right? Maybe Texaco? Or Mobil?
We all must draw a line somewhere and recognize what is believable and what is really absurd. I was asked for REAL offers on Gold. Well, I am afraid to answer. Gold is a subject serious enough to put aside jokes. Gold, petroleum products or diamonds are such fields of trade in which you should honestly try to visualise how far away you are, from actually dealing in those commodities. No wonder, the first feeling coming to you would be cheat-phobia.
How can we possibly fear being bypassed? Remember these 3 points and you will not have to worry again...
POINT 1.
The Internet brings hope to many people who are willing to earn some extra money and become independent. Anybody has a chance to become wealthy by utilising the power of the Internet for marketing, advertising and promotion.
Remember this: the Internet can be of any use to you ONLY if your business exists in reality. Your business cannot be simply hanging on the World Wide Web - it must function in real life, it must be able to survive if your computer is plugged off. The Internet is an extension of your promotional campaign. It helps to globalize your business and to advertise your products Worldwide. The Internet WILL NOT make a business for you. To be able to use this chance to make business in Internet World, you need to establish your business first. The Internet is not for gamblers.
If you have your business, some products or service for SALE, you will never fear that somebody is bypassing you. It is simple: if you base your business on information acquired via the Internet, you will always be afraid that this information can be abused by others, that somebody will use it to his or her advantage without rewarding you. When you sell anything on your own, nobody can cheat you, as an owner of a sellable item. Don’t you agree?
POINT 2
The Internet makes you believe in things you would never accept as true before the era of the World Wide Web. People tend to consider an E-mail message as a piece of truthful information, whatever it carries. This unbelievable trust in a sender’s intentions, possibilities and resources is frightening indeed. It leads to ACTION from a recipients side although there is no firm ground to trust that the message is genuine (this leads to Internet Enhanced Compulsive Syndrome - IECS).
Remember this: always think about the information obtained via the Internet as about news which you got in reality, as the Internet did not exist. People believe nowadays that they can trade in crude oil, gold, diamonds, sugar etc. Would you believe such things 15 years ago? 15 years ago, hearing about crude oil, you probably had in mind a platform on the sea and rich owners of oil fields in United Arab Emirates and Kuwait. If your neighbour came to you today asking for 100 million barrels of crude oil, would you consider him seriously? Definitely not. But an E-mail message from another part of the World IS considered serious. In this light your neighbour could send you an E-mail message instead of knocking on your door - to make the matter look believable... .
Think what you can do, what your possibilities are, when you can perform. The less control you have over any kind of business, the more you fear of being bypassed. Definitely crude oil deals or gold trade are controlled only by a few in the World. It will stay like that with or without the Internet. Get rid of your worries that others cheat on you by eliminating any business which is difficult to be reached by you. We teach how to be successful doing SIMPLE things - much more successful than selling one ship of sugar, for example... .
POINT 3
The Internet has made people believe that without firm credentials any business can be conducted. We see thousands of advertisements (offers and demands) and we wonder: how many of these are backed by authentic authority, how many of these advertisers are real representatives of buyers or sellers?
Remember this: do not act on a piece of electronic data - try to get to the sources and protect your earnings by legal ways. It cannot be Non Circumvention Non Disclosure Agreement. It must be an Agency Agreement or any document protecting your real earnings. You always need to have a written authority to offer any service or product - you must become a representative. This will give you control over proposed transactions and support from principals. It will eliminate your fears of being bypassed.
The less protected you are, to more fear of being cheated by others. It is not difficult to cooperate with genuine suppliers or buyers. It is a matter of changing ways of thinking. That is what we teach during our training course.
Your worries of being bypassed grow proportionally if you:
believe that your business can exist just on the World Wide Web
believe in business proposals coming from the Internet, which would otherwise be not considered as serious by you
believe that you can conduct your business without firm authority from the owners (principals) of goods or services.
Eliminate your fears and learn how to build such business which will bring you satisfaction, enjoyment and money - we will teach you HOW to do it...
ll help you to make it the right way, without frustrations.
