Managing Your E-mail

Do you find yourself overwhelmed with E-mail?
There have been times when it took me all day to go through my E-mail until I learned a few tricks. I found that a lot of the E-mail I received was spam and had heard that you can use filters for spam. I decided against the filters because there are a few messages I have received that were beneficial to me and it takes just a second to hit the "Delete" button. Now I can just about look at a message and know whether to delete it or not without even opening it.
I use Outlook Express for my E-mail program. I have heard that EudoraPro and Pegasus are also very good E-mail programs, although I havent used either of these. If I had to change to another program, I dont know what I would do because I have so many messages saved in my filing system with this program. Id be lost if I had to change.
Heres what I do to manage my E-mail:
With Outlook Express I have the ability to create new folders in my inbox. I have a folder for messages I need to take care of now, a folder for later, and a folder for messages pertaining to a specific theme such as new subscribers, ad exchanges, articles to use in my newsletter, joint ventures, newsletters I subscribe to, etc. As I check my inbox, I look for what I know to be urgent messages or messages I know I need to take care of right away. I either answer them as I open those messages or move them to whatever file is appropriate and continue checking the rest of the messages. The newsletters go into the newsletter file to be read when I can, the spam is deleted, and the rest are briefly looked at to see if it is something I want to keep or delete and moved to the appropriate file. My inbox is always clean and I know what messages I need to respond to right away.
I have the ability to assign E-mail addresses for certain correspondence. For example, when someone sends me an ad for the newsletter they send it to pipad@profitpowerpromo.com I have my E-mail program set up so that any message with that address goes directly into my ads file rather than the inbox. New subscribers automatically go into another file. When I have new messages in those files the file name is bolded so I know I have new mail in that folder. I can set up my E-mail program so that if I receive mail from a certain address it will go directly into a file, be forwarded to someone else or deleted automatically.
Spend some time in your E-mail program. Look at all of the functions and what they do. Use your E-mail program to your best advantage. My E-mail program is my best friend for keeping me organized with all of the various duties I need to perform to keep my business running smoothly.
