Sam, My Border Collies Internet Marketing Advice! No 16

Sam (thats my 12 year old Border Collie) and I were walking again through the Bush (Australian countryside). Sam as usual was ranging out from me checking for theEucalyptus trees that needed his marketing skills.

When we reached our usual rock beside the fallen log, Sam said, "Do you remember last week how I was telling you about what a wally old Wally the Wombat was?" Yes Sam its a bit hard to forget the trouble he got himself into.

"Well," said Sam in his best once upon a time tone of voice. I was talking to him again only yesterday. You wouldnt believe what we were yarning about."

What were you yarning about Sam (sometimes one needs to be a little patient with Sam until he gets warmed up)?

"He was skiting about how he used to use one of these gadgets that sends out 1000s of e-mail letters to just about anyone. It was what he told me about his letters that I wanted to point out to you. Youll never guess what he was doing. Old Wally deliberately didnt put a return e-mail address in his letters, only his link to an autoresponder.

When I asked him why he did this he replied to stop these mugs from contacting me. I asked him, what about the folks who are interested in your program and he replied, Stuff em, Im only interested in getting results from them NOT having a talk with them.

So I asked him, what about the folks who are a bit hesitant in joining up with you and would like to have a bit of a natter with you before they commit with you first? You know what he said?" What did Wally say? Sam.

"Youre not going to believe this, not in a million years, said Sam. Try me Sam.

"Well." said Sam as if he couldnt believe it himself. He told me Look I cant stand getting letters from mugs. As far as Im concerned its a case off TELL SOMEONE WHO CARES, and that aint me

Sam, you should see the number of e-mails I get from people like that!

Im blowed if I know what they think theyre playing at. Except for TWO great folks who use this system and always have an e-mail address that you can contact them on (they actually answer your questions and are unstinting in trying to help you). I just delete and block them without another thought to their products.

" They wouldnt last five minutes here in the Bush (Australian countryside)!" retorted Sam indignantly.

I know that Sam and you know that Sam, but these folks still cling to the belief that theyre on a winner and that this is the way to market on the Internet.

I just hope that theyre not such wallies that they dont delete my blocked mail address from their list. It wouldnt take long for their ISPs to notice the number of undelivered e-mails going through their system.

" Gee, I thought Old Wally the Wombat was the only one who did this sort of thing." said Sam.

Sam, there are wallies all over the world and some of them will never learn to market with integrity.

"Oh well, youd better get me home for a bit of lunch." Said Sam. Sam always has to have the last word.
