Time Savers
Category: E-zines: Writing | Date: 2003-06-05 |
Here are some things that you can do with your ezine that will save you some time. That doesnt mean you can still put together a quality ezine at the last minute it only means that these time savers will make your job easier.
* First of all make an ezine template and save it to your hard drive or on a floppy.
* Your template is going to include your header. In your header include your ezines name, your ezines slogan, the date and the issue number.
* Even though the date and issue number will change with each issue it will save you time to make changes instead of retyping the information each time.
* In the template include the subscribe/unsubscribe directions and your contact information. That information should be in each issue. If you save the information in the template then you wont have to retype the information everytime.
* Also if you will be have section headers in your ezine save them as part of your template too. That way it wont have to be messed with at all just add the rest of your information.
*If you have a section that itemize sections include that too.
Example below!
In This Issue:
Welcome
Feature Article: You will only need to add the article here each time
Freebies
Letter from readers/tips
NOTE: The above is just an example. You dont have to have this information. The information you have will vary with each person and/or each ezine.
* If you are going to put a copyright notice at the end of your ezine, which I reccommend doing so save it as part of the template.
Your copyright notice should look like this:
copyright© 2000 your name
or
copyright 2000 your name
* If you will be running an ad for one person permanently then save that as part of your template too.
* If you get backed up on ads and need to start a new issue for ads do so and save the issues. Then when the time comes just open your template and finish it.
* When you print other peoples articles just copy and paste and there you go.
* If you write your own articles, write the article and save it on disk or your hard drive. When you want to use them in your ezine all you will need to do is copy and paste. Also whenever you want to use the articles elsewhere or submit them else where all you will have to do is copy and paste.
* Do not mistake copy and paste for cut and paste. If you cut and paste your article will be cut from the document and then you can paste it. If you cut and paste you will copy what is in the document and the document will stay as is and then you can paste it.
* Put your advertising rates in each issue of your ezine or the information on how rates can be obtained. Save that information with the template.
* If you will be asking for feedback on each issue you can save that with the template unless you will be asking specific questions that wont be asked in the next issue.
* A lot of ezines have a url in the header, save this as part of the template; howerver, if your ezine is totally email based then this wont apply to you.
* If your ezine has a privacy policy, which you should, save it as part of the template.
