Article Submissions: Exclusive First Prints?
Category: E-zines | Date: 2002-02-22 |
If you are marketing on the Internet, one of the best tools to promote your E-Business is "Article Submissions " to other Ezines. You get a chance to show your expertise in your field, help others learn and get your *"Resource Box" included.
*Resource Box:
This is just like a signature file in an e-mail. It includes 4 to 6 lines with your Ebusiness description, URL and e-mail address.
BUT! There are so many different rules for different Ezines. Some just don't accept guest writers. Some welcome your articles with open arms. Some want specific word counts, characters per line and length of article. Some want you to give them an "Exclusive First Print". This means you will ONLY run the article in that Ezine. Let's look at the pros and cons.
If you are just starting out as a writer it isn't a bad thing to give an "Exclusive" if they have a very large subscription base. This gets you exposed to a targeted group and gets you recognized. However you may not submit that article to another Ezine within a given period of time, if at all. Gail and I won't do it!
Why? Because first of all, we write for our own Ezines and we have been writing for some time. Our articles are written to benefit our readers and our company. We don't want to be locked into someone else's control. Gail and I prefer to submit to Ezines that accept open articles because we reach a larger audience by greater exposure. Therefore benefiting more people. Also getting more folks to visit our sites and subscribe to our Ezines.
It is an important part of our business advertising. Simply put, if you like our articles and see the value, you will visit our sites and subscribe with us to get the full benefit of what we write. Also you may well RECOMMEND US TO YOUR FRIENDS (hint) by forwarding our Ezines with your personal note. Pretty clever way to ask you to share us with your friends :-) Right?
This is how we feel about submitting articles. Not everyone will agree with us and that is OK. You have to do what you feel is in your best interest. This works for us.
First you should submit your articles to Ezines that are within your subject matter. Quilters could care less about marketing articles. Well, actually, I am a quilter and I am interested. (Guess you have to think a little. LOL)
Here are a few places you can go to start your submissions:
aaBusiness - Mailing list.
Articles submissions sent to subscribers.
Subscribe: aabusiness-subscribe@egroups.com
Post Article: aabusiness@egroups.com
URL: http://www.egroups.com/group/aabusiness
EzineArticles.com - EzineArticles is a free weekly ezine that provides resources and connects Internet writers and publishers. It includes both publishers' requests for certain types of articles, plus allow article submissions for delivery to subsribers.Free subscriptions are available at http://EzineArticles.com/ or via email: join-EzineArticles@ezinearticles.com

Submit to as many Ezines as you can find that will take your work. Keep a list and delete the ones that are a problem to work with. You will have them. You can do a search for Ezines and Ezine submissions. There are a lot of them out there. Also try the ones you subscribe to if they run guest articles. Most of them will have a notice that they are looking.
Make sure you include your copyright notice with your article and a header that states the resource box must be included. You want to get proper credit and generate visitors to your site.
Keep away from blatant advertising in your articles. That is a big turn off to most Ezine publishers. The quality of your article will generate visitors and your Resource Box will direct them.
If the publisher gets good feedback from your article then they will want more. Which means more promoting for you and exposure for your E-Business.
