This profile is about a company we work with called Scenario Design, where two individuals have achieved tremendous results, both personal and financial, using the Synergy Referral SystemTM (SRS). Isabelle and Margarita's business has enjoyed a staggering 403% sales increase since we began working with them a year ago, and it's all come from referrals and repeat business. To top this off, in October, Scenario Design was honoured with the highly regarded Be Your Own Boss Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Business Services. We're very proud of Isabelle and Margarita, and we hope their story will inspire others. Here's an interview with Isabelle that should spark a few ideas about how you can achieve the success you desire.
What challenges prompted you to call SGI Synergy Group Inc.?
When we called Kevin Lawrence at SGI a year ago, it was because we wanted to get organized and achieve "more," but not in a simply financial sense. Our goal was, and still is, to provide great service and give our clients what they need. We love doing "the little things" that make people really happy, but our problem - before working with Kevin - was that we simply did not have enough time to consistently do everything that needed to be done in a day. All our time was spent in production, so nobody was around to attend to "growing" the business and expanding our client base. It was terribly frustrating. We weren't as organized as we yearned to be, despite what our clients believed. That's why it became essential for our company to employ various time saving and client pleasing systems. We couldn't keep up with everything that needed to be done. And a dramatic improvement in our sales was needed to ensure the future viability of our business.
How has your strategy for success evolved since you began working with Kevin Lawrence?
Before we began dealing with Kevin, we were like many business people who think they'll only be able to provide their clients with better service once they have a bigger budget and more money to spend. That's a "once I have this, I'll do that" mentality, and it's wrong. In order to achieve anything worthwhile, you have to plan carefully and give a lot of yourself. Those are the two most important lessons we've learned from Kevin. And that's why the first thing we decided to do after consulting with him was cut down on the number of people we served. Kevin helped us understand how, by having fewer, larger clients, we could focus upon giving great service, while building volume and shrinking headaches. We had too many clients in the beginning, if you can believe it! Now we take on bigger projects involving enormous amounts of extremely interesting work. Kevin was instrumental to our achieving this success. He helped us devise a simple strategy to keep in touch with all our clients and contacts on a monthly basis. People love birthday and anniversary cards, as well as thoughtful gestures and small gifts that show you care about them. SGI showed us how easy it is to systemize all client communication through a single database. Now we have existing clients and intrigued prospects calling us every day thanking us for thoughtful gestures that don't require a ton of effort. It feels great. It also feels great to be attracting the kind of clients and sales that we desire while providing tremendous, personalized service.
Why do you think Scenario Design has achieved such fantastic results working with Kevin?
Kevin is always there for you, listening intently asking insightful questions, and helping you solve problems for yourself. It's a great process because, as we've learned more and taken greater control of our business, it has become less and less necessary to call upon him when things aren't going well. Kevin has given us the tools we need to succeed in the workplace each day. And he has taught us that you have to find your own answers. That's the point: Kevin simply provided us with some order, direction, and a simple database driven referral system. We took it from there. Things get done now. We don't have to panic because of problems that arise due to lack of organization and time. We're focused and prepared for anything. Our work flows smoothly. And, most importantly, we're both happier than we've ever been.
What would you say to a person in a situation similar to the one you found yourself in just over a year ago, who is interested in improving and getting more out of their business?
If you're asking yourself questions about what will make you happiest, which you should always be doing, then phone SGI and let them help you. Whether your business is large or small, it's extremely important to get someone like Kevin on your side, helping put things in perspective, and assisting with strategy development and execution. We've always been motivated, but since we began working with Kevin, things have kicked into overdrive. It's amazing how focused and pointed his insights are. Kevin is a neutral, unbiased person who provides us at Scenario Design with tremendously useful feedback. Our only regret is that we didn't call him sooner.
