Killer Sales Letters Are They Getting Deadly?
Category: Entrepreneurship | Date: 2001-04-27 |
Ever find yourself getting side-tracked while working at your online business?
My partner and I had a long conversation about this after purchasing our last product. The product had promised that we would be making money within 5 hours.
The lure of easy money is POWERFUL online!
I have been through just about every program in the book over the past three years here online. Two years before that, I had bought OFFLINE programs that are to this DAY sitting on my closet shelf.
As a reasonably organized and focused individual, I have learned what it takes to get and stay with the task at hand. There are just so many distractions to deal with.
Still, we are tempted by the wonderfully written sales letters out there. They sure are getting good, aren't they? Takes all of your strength just to keep from buying everything that you see.
The worst part about it isn't the money that you waste either. The absolute worst part is that all of these programs take precious time.
Some people get so confused that they give EVERYTHING up and swear never to get online again!
One solution is to think about how you will deal with these savvy sales letters BEFORE you need to decide about them... before finding yourself being sucked in. Another is that to reduce the pain of money being wasted, be sure not to buy anything that doesn't have a money back guarantee.
Next, go over the program, look at it with your own unique perspective. Take a GOOD look and ask yourself questions.
Will I have the time to work this program along with my other stuff?
Will I make money?
Would I be proud to advertise this to my friends and family?
Whatever your criteria... ask and then ask again the next day.
If the answer is no to anything, look at that again and re-ask. It is better to take a good look now than to buy and let the thing sit in some folder never to be visited again?
Once you find someone who is trustworthy and not merely blowing smoke, you can then deal with that person again and again. You can also contact that person for his or her opinion BEFORE purchasing someone else's program. They will likely be as honest in giving you advice like that as they are when advising you on their particular programs.
Trust your instincts. If you feel that there is something wrong with this picture, look some more!
Try not to buy impulsively but if you find that you have made a purchase that is not performing, STOP the bleeding. Don't try to make a "silk purse" out of a "sow's ear" as they say. Get back to what you "felt" was your winning program in the first place.
I continue to research and perfect my online experience.
My search for a better way to make a living brings as much pleasure as the ultimate goal. I certainly don't know everything or claim to be an expert but the more you know, the more you know...
Give yourself permission to explore AND to make mistakes along the way.
The journey CAN be as satisfying as reaching the destination!
