Passion First, Business Second. Money Follows.

How do you go about starting your own business?

Most people think about the money first, then try to adjust the business activities to personal financial requirements. That is why they usually fail. It is easy to explain: business is treated as a prospective source of cash and not as a fulfillment of deeper human desires. You start to care for money and not for your private enterprise, you have your financial needs in mind and not the success of your business.


The truth is that success in business depends entirely on HOW you fulfill your duties: are you doing it with joy and the feeling of satisfaction, with deep belief in what you are doing, or are you undertaking your job because it must be done, because it can possibly bring money?

For successful people business is their PASSION. There is something in life which fascinates them and drives them - something they LOVE to do. They choose this deep desire to be their business line. They simply "live their dreams" - it is not money that drives them but this personal vision, which makes with act with ease, happiness and pleasure. You should do the same. Look what happens when you act in a similar way. It is NOT difficult.

1. Can you imagine a better situation when your duties can become leisure time activities? When you do what you love to do, it brings natural joy. You are almost impatient to start each day of work - you love it! I stress it in all my publications: choose such a business line which fits your personality and your talents, skills or desires. Everybody has "something" which is his or her passion - it must be just used.

2. When you run your business with passion, when you believe in what you are doing, you automatically change your attitude: you become extremely convincing to others. You become infectious with excitement which passes on to other people and they start to share your enthusiasm. If they are your employees, they work for you with more commitment. If they are your customers, they simply start to buy your product!

3. Doing something with passion means doing it well. Doing things well in business means enhancing the quality of your service. High quality of your service means high demand for it. The customers will flood to your doors - they know that you care for every detail, that you will not overlook any of their needs. You want them to be as happy as you are since what you do is your passion. You deliver the highest quality possible.

4. When your business line becomes the driving force of your life, you run your company more for pleasure than for money. I know that it sounds quite absurd (everybody wants to get rich in business, after all), but subconsciously you will maintain your company better even if only to keep the opportunity of doing what you love to do for as long as you can. Your business starts to "breathe" better since you have more working capital: a) you leave more money for the company to carry on with your passionate undertaking and b) you have better services and more customers.

5. If you do something with passion, chances are you will constantly improve it. Your creativeness has no limits and, what is more important, you use innovations immediately. Remember: it drives you. In practice it means that your service range, overall quality and attractiveness will be enriched regularly.

6. The following aspect cannot be belittled: attending to business duties with passion means that you feel better, healthier, and younger. Your employees and customers need to see a role model of a happy and fit leader in you: they simply like you. Being liked is a very important attribute in business, attracting more clients and making the staff working harder.

7. Doing things well and with joy means doing them faster. You are becoming more effective and your business can serve more customers. It also means that you have more time for your family and come back home happier. In return you will be rewarded in invaluable ways: you will receive family support. The circle is completed and your overall quality of life gets a boost.

Haven’t we forgotten anything? Oh, yes: MONEY. Please go back point by point again and see how much money you are making on the way - without even noticing it. Your customers are happy and buy your product or service, the quality of your work improves, and cash flow grows. You started with passion and you end you with money.

It is not a hypothesis but a proven phenomenon. If you hate to paint the walls, you will not do it as well as somebody who loves to paint. If you do not like to climb mountains, you will not do it as fast and safe as another person who passionately hikes. If your passion is horse riding, you will do it with grace, smile and joy, unlikely me who would probably be very tense, frightened and the horse could even kick me after my poor performance (I do not like riding horses...).

What you do with passion can be sold. Do not look for what others sell and make a business out of that. Look first for what YOU like to do, with your skills and talents, for something which will drive you. After you find it, make a proper plan for your business enterprise (structure your company properly ). You will be pleasantly surprised to see money follow almost naturally.

Build YOUR business: on the basis of what you like and love. This is the only way to achieve success.
