Pioneers? or Dreamers?

Category: Entrepreneurship Date: 2001-11-07
Having just retrieved my daily assortment of unwanted advertisements and bills from my mail box. (U.S.Postal) I thumbed through the stack. A headline across one of the envelopes read, "They All Laughed When I Started Marketing On The Internet" (And you think only the Internet has Spam?) That'll be another article! :-)

That headline conjured up an assortment of thoughts and feelings that, I'm sure we've all experienced.

How many of us have been held up to ridicule? Chastised for wanting something better out of life? Even accused of being Lazy because we don't participate in the Boring Humdrum existance of the 9 to 5 "J.O.B." (just over broke)

We as Internet Marketers are not dreamers. We are not lazy. There isn't anything wrong with us. Above all else I don't Need to Go Get a J.O.B. We are real people with Hopes, Dreams and Aspirations. We have embarked on a Journey that few will ever experience.

The Internet, I believe, is still in it's infancy. Has provided Us with a territory that is basically uncharted and open for exploration. We are the Lewis and Clark, The Miners of the Great Gold Rush looking to stake our claims on the Wonderful World Wide Web.

Dreamers? Not Hardly! People with Extraordinary Vision? You Bet! Pioneers? Yup! We sure are. And we need to keep that uppermost in our thoughts. So we don't do a number on ourselves when we make mistakes. After all, We're new at this and can't possibly know all the pitfalls, traps and the like.

We can't possibly know all there is to know about marketing a business on the Internet. With changes taking place at light speed, discovering what works for a time, only to find that it's not working as before. Constantly searching, constantly learning.

There will always be naysayers and those that scoff at us as we trudge the roads of our destinys. I'm sure bigger pioneers than us were ridiculed, laughed at and even told they were crazy.

Because? We are Doers. Doers take away the excuses from the non-doers. If ordinary people as we can do this. Why can't they?

We don't listen to the excuses that we as human beings can conjure up for ourselves. We aren't interested in why we can't do this. Rather, we look for solutions and how to do this. Others will always have their opinions. We all know what they're like! So we don't hear them. We don't allow their negative words to remain in our thoughts. If we do we may follow them and not our dreams.

There is certainly nothing wrong with Dreams. Without them we would be mighty empty. So dream on my Fellow Pioneers. Move towards them. Live with the Hope of them and May Abundance be Yours!

Having said that. What say we all go out there and Brave the New Frontier.

Success and Regards,
Art Luff
