Growing Your Own Home Based Business
Category: Home Based Business - Getting Started | Date: 2003-10-23 |
Making money on-line isnt hard if you have plenty of money. Most of the the big corporations are spending millions
You and I dont have the money to play with the big shots.
Three years ago I set a goal for myself. I wanted to grow a home based Internet business using low cost marketing. I set out to try every possible tip or tool I could find. Today I want to touch on some of the most successful marketing techniques I have found.
1) CHOOSE A PRODUCT THAT SELLS
You would think that this goes without saying. I mention it here because there is no shortage of business opportunities on-line.
Find a business opportunity where there is a reasonable probability that you can earn $300. Then move to $300 a month, then $300 a week and so on, use any number you want The absolute best product is your own unique product, and information is the top product on-line, however its not always possible to develop your own product the first time out.
Create an example for yourself so you know exactly what to do to accomplish your first goal. NEVER count on earning a dime from the efforts others you wont be dissapointed.

If you cant understand exactly what to do to earn your first step ($300) in a few minutes, move on. The Internet helps level the playing field. It offers anyone a "right livelihood", to be paid for developing your interest and expertise.
2) START BUILDING YOUR OWN WEB SITE
Your business will center on your website. You use it to attract leads like a fisherman dangles the bait. The Internet is about delivering free information FIRST. Second, market products that fit with your existing content afterwards.
I say this all the time but 90% still dont get it.
Your website should offer free and useful information in your unique area of expertise. Choose products that work with your niche. You dont have to come up with all the content yourself. Search for useful content and offer to reprint their unique information including links back to their webpages or offline businesses.
On the Internet you can help others AND help yourself by sharing your content and offering your content in exchange. The best part is you earn money developing your interests. If its only about the money a day job is easier, but its not only about money. It used to not be important to have a nice looking website but in the last year it has become essential. But even if the design is good if your content is poor you are doomed to failure even if you are a multi-national cooperation.
Collect all the content for the website first then get some help polishing it. Write your own content its a lot more affordable.
Get written permission to publish the work of others and offer credit.
Unless you are experienced its usually best to hire someone to code your original pages. Learn how to edit them on your own, its easy.
3) GET YOUR OWN DOMAIN.
It only costs $70 for the first two years and $35 a year afterwards. Building a business using free servers free email accounts doesnt work. People must take you seriously. If you dont invest time and effort in your business why will anyone else?

4) GET A VIRTUAL SERVER
Having a domain name shows you are serious. You need an address on the Internet that doesnt change, its like owning a home and not renting. With your own domain you can change your Internet provider without losing your virtual address on the web.
I noticed all my mentors use Virtualisys hosting I didnt want to invent the wheel so I signed on with Virtualisys. I have been with them about 18 months and its solved all my hosting problems. I have yet to have even one small complaint. Later I became a re-seller and now earn many times the amount I pay for the server.
The following link contains information I wish I had when I was getting started. Learn from my experience.

5) CREATE MORE CONTENT TO ATTRACT MORE CUSTOMERS
Since the Internet is a pull medium the fastest way to the top is to cooperate with your competition, You can even offer to exchange information. The result is you both attract more traffic together than either of you could do alone.
Mountain climbers know that the easiest route to the top may not be the most direct route. You grow your business using more and more high quality content.
6) DEVELOP YOUR LEAD FOLLOW UP SYSTEM
I saved the best for last. I did that on purpose because at least for me, automated follow up is essential. The hard part is prospecting for leads, once you have a lead you want to have a well thought out follow-up system to follow up and convert a prospect into a sale.
Its the marketing 2 step prospect then convert to sales. You do the same thing over and over.
Your follow-up system develops your message by offering it in bite- sized chunks. Work like a street actor, youre follow-up system holds their attention long enough to earn the opportunity to pass the collection.
Reduce it to simple math.
If one out of ten prospective buyers makes a purchase from you have a 1/10 conversion rate. As long as one of ten people buy that number will tend to stay the same. But what if every time you followed up again in a few days with more information, what would your conversion rate be? Lets say you send 3 follow-up messages over a week 2 days apart, and your conversion rate is now 3 of 10. You experiment to find the numbers of follow-up messages that work best for your product.
Lets say it costs you $12 to attract that first contact. It doesnt cost you any more to follow up from a different angle, but you gain three times the number of sales. So your earn three times the profit.
This is exactly what follow-up has done for me. I couldnt keep track of all the follow-ups to all the leads without automation.
I learned the importance of automated follow-up using the AWeber follow-up system. They have a product that is almost guaranteed to double your on-line income. I will continue to re-sell their excellent product.
My system has one additional feature that no other system has, the ability to track and follow-up with several products using several sets of messages, My system can handle unlimited products separately and deliver a followup report every day.
Here is a real world followup example
Lets say you have a webpage about the types of bugs fish eat on the Snake River in Idaho, You sell hand tied flies. You offer a link on your page to more information, they fill out their name and email address and give you permission to send them more specific information.
Say you send out information about the local guides, AND you offer several choices of hand tied fishing flies. In another message you tell them more about the local fishing records and send them a link to a few other websites that offer services in your area AND a special offer combined with a local guide service.
In this case the website had many pages and many products from high end real-estate to hand tied flies, using automated follow-up provided a way for one business to offer hundreds of local services build up the local economy and make tons of friends and some good money to boot.
Many of you know I have been testing my automated follow-up system free for the last 90 days. My income grew by over 400% already. The beta will be over August 1. So far we have about 300 people testing and have had no problems with the software. In a couple of weeks we will have our new Total Merchants Manager e-commerce system up and running.
You still have the rest of the month to setup your account while its free. August 1 The cost will be $20 a month
But not for you.
Everyone using the system during the free beta period will only pay $10 a month. Soon after I will offer re-sellers program. You can earn $10 a month residual income selling a service that can at least double anyones on-line income almost overnight.
Thats a WIN WIN.
Demo the system while its free. See what it can do for your business. http://www.smithfam.com/ai/autoinfo.html
Best Wishes
