Choosing a Business Opportunity Thats Right for YOU
Category: Home Based Business - is it for YOU? | Date: 2003-06-18 |
Ever thought something like, If SHE can make thousands a month with the Super-Duper-Money-Making-Opportunity-of-the-Century, why cant I?
If so, youre not alone. Hundreds of thousands of people search the web for that one elusive opportunity that will give us the freedom and income we desire. And when the search seems endless, well, its easy to be persuaded.
But the fact of the matter is, there is NO opportunity that is right for everyone. I dont care if the stay-at-home mom down the street, the construction worker in the new subdivision, your neighbors dog walker, and your co-workers wifes niece are all making thousands a month. That does not mean that YOU will.
Oh, its not because youre any less capable than they are. Quite simply, youre a different person with unique skills and interests. Imagine that!
Take advantage of your individuality to find your own niche. Some suggestions include:
> Start a business related to your current line of work. You already have the skills and the background for this type of work; what can you do to utilize your experiences and strike out on your own?
> A niche market youve noticed that does not yet have a product or service to satisfy it. Do you have the skills required to create a product to fit that niche?
> Specific interests or hobbies. For example, if you love to keep in shape, how about taking some courses to become a certified personal trainer?
> A product or service youve searched for yourself, but isnt yet available. If youve been looking for something like it yourself, then chances are others have as well.
> An information product based on any of the above ideas. Packaging your knowledge and selling it is a very low-cost, high-profit business - especially on the web, where people surf around looking information on every topic imaginable. The best thing is, you dont even have to be a professional writer - there are hordes of self-published authors online! One great source for creating and selling an information product from beginning to end is Make Your Knowledge Sell!, http://www.buildyourhomebiz.com/myks.html .
Coming up with an idea is just part of your research. You also need to ask yourself questions such as:
> Is there a demand for the product you want to sell, and at the price at which you can offer it?
> Is there room in your chosen market for one more product?
> How will you distinguish yourself from your competitors? Why should people buy from YOU and not your competition?
> Can you make a profit at the price people are willing to pay for your product?
The point is, opportunity is everywhere but its specific to YOU as an individual. Naturally you should take into account other peoples experiences with an opportunity - just dont let it be your deciding factor.
Look to yourself to find your skills, interests, and strengths. Find an opportunity - or CREATE one of your own! - where you can exercise these strengths and work towards the goal of being your own boss!
