The End of The Beginning

(Final Lessons Learned??)

Yep, it’s me again. This will be the final article in this series. I may have to add another one farther on down the line, you never know! Well, grab a bowl of ice cream and get comfortable.

Spam:
Simply put, you know all of the Emails that you receive in your inbox? Did you request info for any of them? No? Well, that’s Spam. The more you get your Email address out on the ‘Net, the more Spam you will receive. I guess it comes with the territory. My best advice about Spam: you will get it – make friends with your Delete button and deal with it!

On the flip side of the coin, if you decide to Spam someone, think about this: If you get reported for Spam, A) your ISP can pull the Plug on you and you won’t have an Internet Provider, B) Any Affiliate Programs you are involved with can and will terminate
your affiliation with their company. C) Earned credits and/or earned monies with said company will be forfeited. D) All the above If you guessed D, then you are
Correct!

All in all, Spam is a no-no. Period. Be smart and protect yourself and just don’t do it!

Viruses:
If your computer has ever been unfortunate enough to get infected with a Virus, then you know how destructive even a simple virus can be. You simply must protect yourself with Anti-Virus software. I recommend AVG Anti-Virus System and this is why. A colleague of mine works for a very large, local Convention Hall in our city. All of her Emails are certified, incoming and outgoing as well, to be free of virus. Now, to me that is a pretty terrific Testimony. I downloaded AVG to protect my computer and the rest is history. You can download AVG Anti-Virus at: http://www.grisoft.com Note: When I first started using AVG, I discovered 4 viruses that I didn’t even know were there. The first 3, I was able to delete and recover from with little damage. With the forth one, I wasn’t that lucky. It seems this virus embedded itself into one of my program files, then duplicated itself infecting my email address book as well. Bottom line, I crashed. Everything was gone, including what little was left of my sanity. Protect your computer and your Business with a good Anti-Virus program. Oh, did I mention that AVG has a free version? You get all of the updates free also.

Signature lines:
Do you have a “sig line”? Most Email programs have an option to set up a signature line. I have signature lines set up in my business Email, as well as my personal Email. I am in the opinion that Sig lines should be kept between 2 and 4 lines – only. Long sig lines look like a classified ad.

Oh, you say that’s too short and it isn’t descriptive enough? Are you curious? Good! That’s the whole idea. This short and simple sig line in my personal outgoing Emails has netted me 5 referrals so far! Need I say more?

Back ups:
Set up a back up schedule and stick to it. It only takes one crash and all is lost. Don’t even get the attitude “It won’t happen to me” it can and it will. Hey, stuff happens, so be prepared. Personally, I use a Zip Disk to back up my system. It doesn’t matter what you use to back up, just as long as you do it. And do it regularly, you just never know!

I guess that about wraps it up. I intend to continue to learn. Heck, if I don’t I might as well fall off the face of the Earth! I have tremendously enjoyed our time together. I hope that my lessons have taught you something as well. See you in Cyberspace!
