Fast Track To Success!

Category: Marketing Strategy Date: 2001-03-30
I am very excited about being a featured writer for DEMC and the ongoing improvements they are making to their site, products and services to assist the small office/home office business person. For my first of an ongoing series, I wanted to write about the most talked-about phenomenon in the business world today and how it can be applied to help you in your network marketing and affiliate marketing endeavors. What is this phenomenon? It is called "Branding"!

The ultimate goal of branding is to make any product, service, and/or person stand head and shoulders above any possible competition. In other words, you want to become a star in your respective niche or field. Accelerating this process can occur by piggybacking on the energy of another phenomenon: the Internet.

Keep in mind that the Internet made its commercial debut in 1994. By 1999, there were more than 800 million pages of content on the web. If you thought branding was important in the brick and mortar world, it is even more significant to building strong Internet presence. At a time when sheer choice is overwhelming consumers, a strong brand will be
what separates Web winners from losers. Building and sustaining your brand is a critical part of any successful e-business strategy.

As a small business you can brand either your company and its exclusive products / services or yourself as the owner of the business. However, in the network marketing field or when promoting an affiliate program it is particularly important to brand yourself not the company. Distributors and Affiliates frequently make the mistake of only branding the company's products which they promote. This tactic helps the company but it does not help you to sell more.

Let me explain, if your respective network marketing company makes $30 million a month in sales, and you as a distributor have 5 people in your downline with a monthly check of $50, you are not at the optimal performance. Therefore you may think it is a good idea to brand and
promote the company rather than yourself. If you wish to build your own business, however the most significant factor to your success is coming up with compelling reasons to persuade your prospect to buy from you. It is "Your Brand" that will close the sale for YOU and not
another distributor of the company.

So, how do you develop "Your Brand"?

To begin the branding process, you must distinguish yourself from the pack on the basis of your unique skills, the needs of a targeted client base, and blend it with your individual personality. To help stimulate ideas on how you can start this endeavor, consider your responses to the following questions:

1. What do you love to do? About what are you passionate?
2. How often do you read trade magazines, newspapers, and other materials on the subject for which you have your passion?
3. When did you last attend a class, seminar, or tradeshow on the subject of your passion? Has it been within the last six months?
4. Have you identified your goal(s)? Do you have a written plan of action for next year to achieve your goal including use of a Franklin Planner or electronic database system like Act or Goldmine?
5. If you were given $100,000 to do a commercial that advertises your most valuable skill, do you know what that would be?
6. How do you feel about your current job or those activities that you do to generate the major source of your income?
7. How much personality and enthusiasm do you put into the activities that generate your major source of income at the present time?
8. Have you put together a strategic alliance with persons of influence and/or people with access to capital?
9. Have you put together a strategic alliance with people you can trust and/or people who have a high level of integrity where money is not the sole criteria?
10. Have you determined what skills or abilities are necessary to succeed in your desired activity?

It is important to take the time and answers these questions as they will help you examine your natural skills, the skills you've acquired through education and the skills you've acquired in the working environment. When you know about what you have the passion and skill to succeed, you will be able to develop your brand image around those factors.

The next step to the branding process is to develop a key statement in a few brief phrases. This statement should give the essence of your brand and explain the reasons why people should want to purchase from you instead of your competition. Once you have a key statement you'll include it in all of your promotional activities and marketing in order
to create awareness and build "Your Brand."

The Internet revolution will only happen once and brand name development will be a critical component to the fast track for success! Every single person reading this article will have the same opportunity of success. The bottom line is: get involved now and start thinking about your unique selling proposition {USP} via your ISP!
