There has never been a better time to market products and services on the internet. Over 100,000 computers were purchased this holiday season. The #1 online service provider (AOL) now boasts over 15 million users. And thats only one service!
The different methods of marketing and promotion are limitless. Subscribing to a variety of newsletters should keep you in ideas for years.
If you build it they will come. This is a common misconception shared by many marketers. Get REAL! This is not a baseball field and to my knowledge only living, breathing human beings buy goods and services.
Statistic:
Due to chronic advertising the average consumer must see an ad a total of 21 times before they buy! That number is said to be 7 times on the internet. Probably due almost entirely to convenience and impulse buys.
Having a great product or service wont even get you into the race. Getting traffic TO your site is only the beginning!
You must give away something free and useful if you hope to have visitors return to your site. Problem is freebies are being done to death! Forget about originality, nearly every site touts free marketing tips. Im not saying to drop free marketing
tips or any other freebie. I am saying there is a much more effective means of marketing your product or service.
Give them a taste of it!
There is no better way to tantalize than to offer a free sample. That has always worked extremely well and always will. Many businesses offer samples and you can too. Simple modifications work wonders. Just dont give away the store!
Unless you sell something as of yet unheard of, there is another version in the works or soon will be. Somebody will come along and make it more efficient, then sell it for less.
If a picture is worth a thousand words imagine what samples are worth. Would you rather try before you buy or are you content to rely on a description of its many wonders? Shareware is a perfect example of the effectiveness of samples. You will
have your visitors salivating for more!
Its a very simple, time tested concept. Give and you will receive.
