Your Website vs. Your Brochure
Category: Marketing | Date: 2001-11-27 |
Here's a little exercise about how your Brochure for your company and your Web Site serve the same purpose ~ they both should highlight your business. Let's take a look at what what each should accomplish beyond the obvious company name, contact information and what you offer. As you examine each of these, put yourself in your readers mindset. (How will they benefit me!) They don't care about you, just what you can do for them.
1. Set yourself apart from your competition and give your prospects added assurance by demonstrating reliability. Guarantee your product to work as stated, your service to be right the first time, your billing accurate, etc.
2. Tell your prospect that you are willing and ready to provide the service or product he is requesting. Call, mail, e-mail or fax responses to your customer immediately.
3. Demonstrate your competence. Show off your skills and talents. Use testimonials whenever possible.
4. Be accessible. Be sure to have a variety of ways one can reach you. Make instructions clear, and extend the invitation in several different places on the site or in your brochure.
5. Be courteous! Always thank a person for any response they make, good or bad! Making someone feel good is your main objective! Many companies are now offering a free gift to prospects just for stopping by, calling or e-mailing!
6. Convey a feeling of trustworthiness and honesty. Always have your prospects best interest at heart. Test yourself on how you interact with others. Are you a "hard sell" type or and "gentle persuader"?
When someone reads what you have to offer, they are generally looking for what it will do for them. These are the benefits they are looking for:
Will what you have help them acquire something for their health, wealth, self-confidence, or sense of accomplishment?
Or maybe what you offer saves them time and energy.
Perhaps you can give them the benefits of prestige, love or recreation?
Whatever your product or service, or however you choose to expose it, you must always tie it to how it will enhance your readers lives.
