You've heard and probably used expressions like "She's all fired up" and "He's got a fire in his belly". We're talking about your emotional state of mind. That's where fear, anger, caring, enthusiasm, determination, happiness and passion all reside. Your emotions are your fire and without them you'd be like Mr. Spock, who's into rain.
Rain is your cool, clear, detached logic - sweet reason.It's not too exciting, but it's surely necessary. It keeps you from going off half-cocked, or it's supposed to, but it can also put out your fire. The trick when exploring for and selecting the right business opportunity (bizop) for yourself (and family?) is to strike a balance between the two. Hey, I'm always balanced, you say. My friend, the web is alive with predators who want to fire up their prey - all the better for roasting. Make a mental note.
There are other considerations, of course, that really must be addressed prior to your search. But keep the fire and rain balance in mind - it will help you to survive.
Decide what you want, decide what you are willing to exchange for it. Establish your priorities and go to work.

So, what do you really want? Additional income? More time with the kids? Career change? Dump the commute and the business suits? Is retirement boring you comatose? Unless you know what you want and why you want it, you could end up being the Thanksgiving turkey the internet scammers are looking for. And they are looking round the clock, day in-day out. Other than perhaps doing some window shopping, exploring bizops without knowing what you want is like trying to teach a pig to sing. It just wastes your time and annoys the pig.

Now, you're an intelligent person or you wouldn't be reading this ezine. If you knew a legitimate way to make millions on the web, wouldn't you be using it for yourself? Would you sell it for $39.95 - or any price? Yet every day, many times a day, people let their fire vaporize their rain and think they're going to get a free lunch. And all they get is the bill.
Success in business requires training and discipline and hard work. But if you're not frightened by these things, the opportunities are just as great today as they ever were.

One of the major differences between starting a business online and one down on Main Street is start-up costs. It's frequently much cheaper on the web because you don't have to provide the sticks'n'bricks, you can work from home. The key phrase is: you can work.
Too many people believe they can buy or create a website and the world will beat a path to their door, making them rich. There are two problems with that: 1. The world will do no such thing, and 2. They ain't got a door. It must be either televised drivel or press puffery that fosters such a belief. Maybe both.
There are more niche businesses today, especially on the web, than in the whole history of business. There are unparalleled opportunities, with a commensurate increase in the dangers. Yes, you should let your imagination soar and consider a range of exciting possibilities in bizops. Exploration and consideration cost you nothing but some time. So give vent to your imagination, curiosity, and passion. Just remember your priorities - and stay close to the rain drops.
