The main focus of this ezine is to give you ways and means of goal achievement. It has been my goal since the inception of "AAvenues 2 Your Success" to share my experience, theories and philosophies with you to assist you in reaching levels that are really important to you.
This week is very special as I want to share with you the achievement of an intermediate goal which is being realised now. Judging from the response in last weeks Reader-Review it is a theme close to the heart of many others as well. Its paramount that I share my successes with you as it proves hands down that such things are indeed, achievable for us all.
Ever since coming online my goals have been set in concrete. After time it becomes really apparent how important these goals are. Either you strive harder for their achievement or you realise that it wasnt that important and its achievement never arrives. There cant be any standing still! Standing still is really a backward movement. If youre not moving forward then you aint gunna get there. Maybe "Seeing The World By Laptop" is a goal for you maybe its not. What is really important 2U must be something that you hold with a passion. A passion that burns at 250єC each time you think about it. You may want to climb K-2. You may want to be a successful reporter. You may just want to swim the 100 metres in under a minute or you may genuinely want to "See The World By Laptop". Whatever it is chase it with a vengeance until you track it down, capture it and experience it!!!!!!!
TRAVELING ABOUT THE WORLD WITH YOUR BUSINESS IN YOUR COMPUTER!
Does the idea of spending 6 months, one year or more on tour sound appealing 2U? 92% of 250 readers in last weeks poll said a very big YES to this question. The thought of two months in Florida, a month in Santa Barbara, 3 months in sunny North Queensland, Australia as well as a stint in London, Paris, The Oktoberfest in Munich and of course skiing the Austrian Alps is all very appealing when one can take their business with them and be paid as one travels. This is a reality!!!!!!
To clarify the ledger from the outset "Seeing The World By Laptop" is not a holiday/vacation for the entire time. You will still need to work diligently to not only hold together the online business that you have constructed but also to expand to your good work. You will find this easier to do than you think. Let me give you an example:
Working 48 weeks a year one goes on vacation for only the 4 weeks of the year that remain. During this time its natural to switch off totally from work mode and laze about in the sun, play tennis, golf etc. It gives a great form of relaxing to be able do the things that you really really want to be doing. Then after your short months vacation has expired then youre back to the grind; albeit a refreshed person but you are heading back to the daily tasks that sent you yearning for the things that you enjoy most. Now, if you were to be in the sun, on the beach writing an editorial for a press release, sending out your ezine with a laptop modem and mobile phone (server actioned), writing an article etc. it is amazing how many new and refreshing ideas you come up with as your thoughts are clean and unadulterated. This is a daily occurrence.
You may decide to work one day on one day off. Whatever you decide to do the newness in your travels, the experiences you, from day to day, encounter will be your driving force and it is this very vitality that you can transpose to your online business in a fashion that will substantiate such a lifestyle without day to day stress. Without newness, a varied routine and meeting new people we can slowly begin to dig a rut for ourselves.
Okay then. Youve decided that this is the lifestyle youd like to experience. What do you need to have to make sure that such a lifestyle is affordable?
This part is entirely up to you but you do not need to be financially wealthy to afford such an existence. However if you plan on spending six months of the year in a hotel in Malibu and the rest somewhere else equally as expensive then yes youll need to be earning something sizeable to support yourself.
You will need to have an online business that is up and running, automated and is making you an independent income. You will need some form of backing before you go. It makes no sense to put the cart before the horse as it has a tendency not to go very far.
Youll need a laptop computer with fairly good specifications but unless your job involves extensive graphics you wont really need a huge screen. It makes good sense to have a built-in modem. Although you can use an external modem when connecting to The Net for ease and simplicity one which is already a part of the machine will be fine. Obviously all the software on your desktop that you use will need to be transferred to your portable.
Youll need to study the places you would like to go. Will you be able to connect up to the Internet? Needless to say this is very important. If you need to you can probably use a mobile phone for this but keep in mind that expenses from such an exercise are not cheap and the data transfer speed of using your mobile phone with the relevant card is only as fast as a fax (up to 14.4 bps). The standard modem transfers at 56.000 bps. Surfing at such a speed will probably drive you to drink within a short space of time so make sure you can connect up to The Net regularly.
Another important aspect is connectivity to a power source. Battery life is generally not more than 3 hours so an accessible power supply is probably a good idea. If you plan on working in the car as you travel then a car adapter is a top investment.
IS SUCH A LIFESTYLE VIABLE FOR ME????
Take a step out of life for a moment now and write down your monthly expenses. Go wild here. Include everything you can think of: car payment, rent, mortgage, groceries, house utility expenses, vacation, clothing, furniture, books, computer, CDs, home improvements etc. etc. etc. Make sure you do this now.
The point of this exercise is to see what youre spending now and to make a budget/plan for such a lifestyle. After I did this I was astounded to find out that life on tour would be cheaper than had I decided to stay at home. This was because so many things that I did out of habit wouldnt require expenditure anymore.
Many people will tell you that you cant embark on such a thing. you may even tell yourself the same thing. Thats fine if its not an important thing for you to do. However if you really want to experience "Seeing The World By Laptop" or anything else that is truly important to you then you may have to stop listening to family and friends who are (sub-consciously) fighting against you. Sure, they mean well but it will only hold you back if you dont grab the bull by the horns and chase after those things that are most dear and closest to your heart.
