The Tag Team
Category: Networking(MLM) | Date: 2002-08-06 |
Thoughts are probably racing through your mind right now about the title. Am I talking about some cheesy WWF wrestling match? No, I am going to show you how to take an interested prospect and make their belief and interest level jump in your company, products, opportunity, and more importantly, in you.
First, why do people join YOU. (Not your Network Marketing opportunity.) People join because of you. They believe in you, trust you, and know you. In Network Marketing you are selling yourself. Why should people join you and the company you represent? Can you answer this? Well, that is best saved for another article...
But, there is one easy thing you can do to make an interested prospect much more interested. It has been coined the "tag approach". Let me first tell you a story, and then explain it.
"You have made the decision to join a Network Marketing opportunity. But before you do, like any good prospect, you do your due diligence. You look at several different companies and talk to many different people. You then narrow your focus down to 3 different companies. With each company you have one contact who would be your future sponsor. You express your interest to each of the 3 people and the normal exchange of information, emails, and phone calls ensues.
But there is something different with one opportunity. Not only are you in contact with your possible sponsor, but 20 other people in that company have also emailed you telling you their story. Such things as why they joined, what the products have done, the support they receive, and much more. The neat thing is that most of these people have no financial incentive with you. You would not be in their downline. But it seems that this group all works together as a team and they are all really excited and very happy with the choice they made.
You are thinking, "Well, with Company X I only know one satisfied person, same with Company Y. But with Company Z there are over 20 of them and they are all ecstatic about this business and they all have good things to say about being a part of this team. Can I go wrong with Company Z? What about Company X and Y? I sure don't know about them, nobody else seems to be interested in that group."
Who do you think that person will end up signing up with? Exactly, Company Z because of the major 3rd party credibility that was given by those other 20 people who are also part of the same team.
Why does this work? Simple, when people see/hear other people first hand who are satisfied, excited, and experiencing success, then their interest level jumps up a notch and they become more comfortable with their decision to join as well. Trust me this works.
So how do you do it. First, if you have a decent sized downline that is online and uses email regularly then follow the steps given. (If not then go upline to somebody who does and ask them to help you complete the steps.)
First, get a list of 5, 10, 20, even 30 people in your group who have access to email and use it regularly. They might be in your downline, upline, even crossline. It doesn't matter. Then share this article with them and tell them you want to do the same thing.
What are you looking for? People who would be willing to take 10 seconds to copy and paste their "story" into an email message to an interested prospect. Tell them that it might be for a prospect who would be in their downline, upline, sideline, or crossline.
Then, once you get a list of people who would be willing to do this put them all together into an address book into your email program, label it "Tag Team".
Now, announce to your group that whenever you have a prospect who is interested in your opportunity that you will send them their name, email address and maybe a brief overview of them. All you ask is that they send an email to this person telling them their story.
But, it doesn't stop there. Also, tell them that if they ever have a prospect, they can send it to and you will distribute it to the group so they can have their prospect receive encouragement and positive feedback from 20 or 30 people as well.
You see, many times they will be sending a tag message to people who they have no financial interest in (they would not be a part of their downline) but by participating they also have the chance to have their prospects be "tagged" by the rest of the team.
Just think of the saying for TEAM. Together Everyone Achieves More. This is very apparent in the example of the "tag team" approach. By working together the whole team wins.
If you are a leader, then this should be a requirement to have for your online group. If you want to be a leader, then this is a good place to start.
You could, and should, take this one step further by also sending a Welcome Message to everybody who joins your group. Nothing would reassure a prospect more than to have 20 people Welcoming them and reaffirming them of their decision to join the team.
I have even made it easier for my group by setting up an online form they can fill out and submit the request. It then goes out to the "VisionPRO Tag List". Just one benefit I offer in my "Member's Only Website".
To give you an idea of some sample "tag" messages, I posted a few at my website.
But (it is sad that I have to mention this) make sure that the people who are sending these "tag" messages are of integrity. There always seems to be a few bad apples who would look at this as a chance to try and pitch these prospects on some other opportunity. Not only are they doing a great injustice for the whole team, they are also hurting themselves MUCH more. Your reputation and your integrity is what most people know you by online. By damaging those, you could ruin your reputation for years to come.
