Why Multi-Level Marketing Doesn’t Work

It starts when that old friend comes along to say, he has just discovered the IDEAL home business opportunity. You aren’t seriously very interested but then you get caught up in his excitement.

You spend $ 300 rather than $150 because you want the very best chance of success, and that same deal might be gone if you wait..

After a couple weeks that excitement just isn’t there at least like it was at first.

You hear about another home business opportunity, it looks like you can make twice as much as the first one - and in less time. Now your more excited as you see yourself on a big vacation spending all the residual income you are going to earn. You sign up, then sit back and wait for the mail..

Next time you see your friend, you want to tell him all about your new business opportunity but he’s disillusioned. "Multi-Level Marketing Doesn’t Work" he says.

I call this the Multi-Level lottery. You might have success if everything just works out right, without any real effort or skill on your part, and the adds are about the same as the lottory.

We are used to being taught what to do and how to do it. We are used to doing some work, getting paid, then doing more and getting paid more.

In our own home business its just like any other business, the people with the best skills make the most money. The really a big difference is that with multi-level marketing you really can actually get paid in the future for the work you do now, as well as getting paid for the work of others.

If multi-level marketing doesn’t work it’s because we waited for someone else to do the work. If we don’t know exactly what’s best to do. So we just flounder and soon lose interest.

With your own home business only you can decide what to do and how it should be done, that’s an added responsibility most of us haven’t been taught how to handle.

So what can we do?

First realize that you might need to learn some new skills and you are going to have to earn those skills. When you learned how to do your job you learned a specific set of skills you would need to do your job. As you learned more you were paid more.

I worked 30+ years in the lithography business, I made the point of purchase software packages for Microsoft. Then my back gave out and my skills didn’t work for me anymore.

After thirty years skill development. After my last paycheck I was flat broke. I soon realized I needed to develop some new skills. I wanted a home business where I could learn residual income.

So I entered the MLM lottery. It seemed like I was doing what my upline was doing but I was always just out of the big money.

I decided I couldn’t do worse if I did what I thought was best instead of what was worked for others. I read a great article and set a goal of just $300 a month in income. That’s when things started working better. I was learning a new skills "Marketing on the Internet".

If it’s true that successful people make more wrong decisions than unsuccessful people, how is it they still can get successful? Successful people are successful because they work smarter, learn from their mistakes, and make more decisions than unsuccessful people.

Why not earn while we learn. We can position ourselves now to serve the masses that WILL arrive on the Internet in the next few years.

The key is not in the opportunity itself, great opportunities exist everywhere. The key is to invest in the skills that will actually take you where you want to go.

So multi-level marketing is like anything we do in life, It doesn’t work, unless we work it. Through long term thinking, a mastermind alliance, setting goals, and actually doing something every day, we can operate our own profitable home Internet businesses.
