No Idea What Content To Put In A Newletter?

Category: Newsletters/Newsgroups Date: 2003-03-05
Marketing experts know that a Newsletter is the best marketing tool on the Internet. There are literally thousands available to us of every conceivable notion. We all subscribe to at least one and although some end up in the trash file, many do get read on a regular basis. Don't think you don't have the time or know-how because it's actually very simple.

Begin a Newsletter and watch your sales increase. You can start off doing a monthly Newsletter, which will give you plenty of time and less stress in getting it out. Once you get into the habit and build your confidence each issue will become easier. Do you have a book yet unsure how to promote it in a Newsletter?

Here are some ideas to get you going in the right direction. When you read one of these ideas and it sparks an interest, write down your thoughts. Sometimes these ideas can ignite other ideas, so be alert to whatever comes to mind.

1. Do a Book Review. Each month review another writer's book. It can be a book another writer has sent you or one you have at home. It doesn't have to be a long review. Keeping it to 500-800 words is a good guideline.

2. Offer Links To Related Sites. Share sites of interest with your subscribers. You could offer a couple of writing sites and in another niche too. Think about what interests you. For example you could choose topics such as Paranormal, Health, or Food. The list goes on and on. People love finding new and interesting sites.

3. Add Trivia. It's easy to add trivia to your newsletter. Go to any search engine and put a search on 'trivia' and you'll find lots of resources. It will only take a few minutes to find interesting trivia to add to your Newsletter. Always remember to include the source of your information.

4. Include a Riddle. Here's another great way to add some intrigue and mystery to your Newsletter. Just ask your subscribers to send in the answer to the riddle and you will share their name and Web site in an upcoming issue. This is a great way to attract subscribers and help them promote their sites too. You'll find riddles galore all over the Internet. Search them out and have fun!

5. Share Quotes. We all love to read quotations. Insert a quotation or two in each issue from a favorite author or inspirational person. They help inspire us and give us hope. These are easy to find when you do a search. I like to use http://www.dogpile.com because it gives you results from various search engines.

6. Offer Marketing Tips. If you're promoting a book you've already discovered some great marketing tips and sites you use. Share them with others. Others will look forward to your Newsletter to learn what new tip or site you're offering this month. Everyone benefits.

7. Add Directory Web sites. Adding your Web site to directories is a must in promotion. Whenever you add to a directory, add the link to your Newsletter too. There are thousands of directories on the Internet and you'll never run out of links to share.

You can use all these ideas or choose one or two from the list. If these ideas created new ones, include those. Don't forget to always add news about your book and where it can be purchased. Make your Newsletter as long or short as is comfortable for you.

Once you get that first issue out, save the template and it will save you a lot of time for future issues. When you are ready for the second issue just pull up the template and add the new information in each category. As your subscription base increases you'll find doing a monthly newsletter isn't a chore at all. It's simple and easy and can be a lot of fun once you get started.
