While planning your new project one has to deal with certain things. First of all do you need a Merchant Account, or one of the other payment options like Clickbank, PayPal, E-gold or Online Checking Services. Secondly, do you need a web master, or can you do everything on your own? An important question that targets your skills and what you want to accomplish.
Regarding the Merchant Account all depends on the price of your product, and the amounts of sales you plan to make in a month. The higher the price of your products, the better off you would be with your own Merchant Account. The lower the price, the better off you would be with PayPal, ClickBank, or IBill.
Is it a mini site this new project of yours? In such a case, most probably you won't need a webmaster. If it is a data based web site, with many pages, and options, and scripts, chances are that you don't have the needed knowledge in PHP and MySQL.
But how to find a web master with reasonable prices? And when you find one, will you be able to work together? Will you pay him per hour, or once and for the entire project? Can you trust him?
To attain a Merchant Account, be prepared -- it really takes a long time for someone who lives outside the US. In my case, we are two months along and still waiting. It might take another two weeks until the merchant Account will be ready to go. Or it might take even more time.
The prices webmasters/developers charge based per hour, are between $50.00 to $60.00. Some cost more, and some cost less. Let's say the price of the project will be $2,800.00, or between 50 and 100 hours of work. That doesn't include any extra hours needed to complete the project.
In the case that things are not going as good as hoped initially, you choose to look for an other webmaster. The web site is ready, but there are some things to be finished, the scripts are not working as they should, and few more things are not as you would like them to be.
The search for another webmaster goes on. You find one finally, and be prepared for the next shock! This time, the total time needed to make everything working is again might not be between the 30 and 100 hours. It might take even longer.
Do not forget, that you'll need to pay for the setup of the Merchant Account. It ranges between $299.00 and $399.00. And then monthly about $80.00, or more. The scripts were also paid apart, and their installation too. And if you are so bold, the Affiliate program also.
Do not believe anyone who tries to tell you that earning money on the Net can be done with no initial costs. Be wise, and plan carefully before starting with a new project. Be sure to have at least $10,000.00 for the project if you plan to make a data based web site. And compare, compare, and compare. Prices as well as personality, and or company compared to company.
