Learning to promote your site online is a daily activity that takes a lot of work. There is no shortcut to success for those who work online.
Here is the good news: There are a lot of resources available to help with the task.
Here a five tips on learning to promote online:
1) SEARCH ENGINES-Utilize the power of the search engines to locate the resources you need to help with promotion.
Many of the sites you find will be designed to take your hard-earned buck in exchange for their help, but there are many more that will provide you with free tips and resources.
Remember, too that the search engines results are always changing. Use them daily or weekly.
2) NEWSLETTERS-If you don't already have one, you need to start today to create your own mailing list.
It is not as difficult as you may have imagined. There is lots of help available, and much of it is free.
3)CROSS PROMOTION-Seek out similar, but non- competetive type sites that you can approach about cross-promotional efforts.
An example would be including a recommendation for their site or e-zine in your confirmation mail to a new subscriber.
4) LINKING-Develop a links page which will allow you to create inbound, reciprocal links with other sites. This can greatly help your search engine rankings.
In developing links, one cation though is to stay away from the "links farms" systems which could actually hurt your rankings.
5) ARTICLES-One of the easiest ways to get your informaltion into another's newsletter is to write information-filled articles with your resource box.
There are many places which will accept your articles in their directories so that publishers can locate and reprint them.
