Sam, My Border Collies Internet Marketing Advice! No 7
Category: Online Promotion | Date: 2001-07-14 |
Sam (that's my 12 year old Border Collie) and I were walking again through the Bush (Australian countryside). Sam as usual was ranging out from me checking for the Eucalyptus trees that needed his marketing skills.
When we reached our usual rock beside the fallen log, I said to Sam, last week you showed me a great way to get new subscribers and at the same time it introduced an easy way to find e-zines that provide FREE Ads.
"Yes" said Sam, "these two programs:
http://hop.clickbank.net/?samstucker/mikesads for advertising and getting new subscribers and http://www.ezinelocater.com/topics/imarketing/img127.shtml for promoting your e-zine and finding e-zines that provide access to FREE Ads are hard to beat".
Sam what can we pass onto our readers this week that will help them in their marketing activities?
"Well I was thinking about that old Cockatoo up in the Iron Bark tree. Old cocky has a way with advertising that could easily be copied. One screech of advertising from that old Cocky and hundreds of other cockatoos turn up. I think your subscribers would really benefit from Old Cocky's years of experience".
O.K. Sam, I'm always willing to learn something new but please try to keep it simple, especially for me.
"Not a problem" retorted Sam, "I'll keep it so simple even you can understand".
I knew it was a waste of my time and energy to try and find a comeback to Sam's remark, so I just said 'O.K Sam, give it a go.'
"I'm actually all prepared" said Sam. "I had a good yarn to that Old Cocky only two days ago. Basically what Old Cocky does is concentrate mainly on his ability to screech loudly. There's a bit more to it than that and to keep it simple for you this is all Old Cocky does.
Screeching loudly Old Cocky sends out an advertising message. In that message there is included the following:
1. Old Cocky is well known in the territory as someone who's word is gospel. When Old Cocky speaks everyone listens, because in all the years of listening to those screeching messages nobody can remember an instance of being let down by those messages. There is total trust.
2. That Old Cocky also knows not to screech about the features. In the message you only hear about the benefits that the message contains for the other Cockatoos in the territory.
3. The message is brief and contains only enough information to attract the interest of the targeted market. No Fluff or Hype, just the interesting bits.
4. In every message that Old Cocky screeches, there are a couple of added benefits aimed to create an increasing desire in the other Cockatoos to come and get what is offered.
5. Also in every message Old Cocky calls those interested to take action NOW!
Was that simple enough for you Gordon"?
Clear as day Sam. It's a bit like the old AIDA principles of advertising that we tend to forget except that Old Cocky emphasises the loudness of the ads. I suppose that means using every opportunity to place ads in the hundreds of E-zines and classifieds that abound on the net.
The other thing I noticed which accounts for a lot of new Marketers finding it difficult to get started, is Old Cocky's reputation. Nobody has been let down by Old Cocky.
"Gordon! I do believe you've got it" said Sam. "just make sure you pass that on to all your subscribers as clearly as I've explained it to you and remind them that with persistence all the new Marketers can build a reputation just as impressive as that Old Cocky
I'll do my best Sam, thanks a lot old fellow. We'd better get home for a bit of lunch.
Sam always needs to have the last word so he retorted "Not so much of the OLD either".
