Success Lessons From a Seven Year Old........

If theres one thing I have discovered over the years it is this..... A moving object is more likely to pick up more momentum than one that is standing still. This has everything to do with living a successful life.
My youngest daughter lassoed me today. She had brought home a box of chocolates from her school to raise money for some special school project. She had already sold a complete box of chocolates but now she wanted to sell a second box.
Being only seven years old, and because she wanted to go door to door to sell her produce, I said that this was the deal. I would drive her to one of the local estates and park the car at the end of the road while she walked from house to house selling chocolates. I would then take her on to the next street until we were all done. While she was beating the pavement I decided to sit and read a motivational book in the comfort of my car.
From time to time I would look in the rear vision mirror to see a little figure with drooping shoulders and a sour expression on her face as she held on tightly to the box of chocolates; heading for the next house. She had obviously been dealt with a serious bout of rejection. She would then come up to the car empty handed looking very dejected indeed. This was when I had to pull out one of my best motivational speeches..., You can do it Chantelle. You can do it. Just keep at it. We prayed a little prayer and as I sent her on her way I gently reminded her to stand up straight and tall while putting on one of her most beautiful smiles.
It wasnt long before she returned with a winning smile that beamed from ear to ear and a handful of money. To top off the successful afternoon, one kind person paid more for the chocolates so that my courageous daughter had an additional bonus for her effort. After she was all done it was with great satisfaction that I took her to buy an ice-cream with the extra money that she had earnt.
The fact was: if she hadnt kept going, she would never have received that extra money. She would also have never had the satisfaction of overcoming all the rejection in order to raise money for her school.
What can we all learn from this seven year old?
If nothings doin, put a smile on your face, look confident and keep doin somethin.
Time and time again I have found it true in my own life. Its worth repeating. If nothings happening in your life, make it happen by doing something. Success is worth fighting for....even if youre only seven.
That afternoon my brains camera took a picture that will stay with me for the rest of my days. A special moment. My little girls face covered in ice-cream. Victory is sure sweet! I like hanging around winners! Even if theyre only seven.
