Earn Free Traffic From The Search Engines

The search engines are probably one the best free ways we can use to drive more traffic to our websites. Some of the "experts" that believe that earning traffic from the search engines is too much effort to be worth while. I disagree; I average earning over 180,000 page views a month from the seven major search engines. I shutter to think what I would have paid to buy that much traffic.

The key to creating residual income is that the money comes AFTER we do the bulk of the work. Earning residual income on-line requires that we change the conventional way of thinking about how we earn income. I believe this misunderstanding is what keeps 90% of all Internet marketers in the red. For the sake of this article Im going to assume you are just starting to develop your web presence. If you already have a website its not too late to develop a powerful web presence. Making a few changes in thinking you can make your site earn much more traffic.

YOUR WEB PERSONALITY

Define the scope, theme and personality of your website before you start. Your web presence is related directly to the image you project. All of your content should relate to your theme, this is important because people will remember the information they find on your site, if they dont find free & useful information why would they want to return.

STEP 1

When you build a home you start with a plan. Next you work the specifications backward one step at a time until you have the plan visualizes. Once your plan is finished everyone knows what he or she need to do to achieve the result. This process of reverse engineering works every time. In the same way building a home works best if you are working from a plan building your Internet based home business is much more powerful if we follow our plan.
Anything that happens in physical reality starts as a thought in someones mind. The first and biggest task is to develop your vision into a step by step plan.

I think most good website designs follow the same basic process. Before you build or revise your website develop your plan in your mind. Decide exactly what content you can give away. Think about your website as a free service FIRST.

You give before you receive. I call it priming the pump.

Most people think that the hardest part of marketing on-line is developing traffic. Attracting traffic is easy once you understand your gift. The problem is we see so much hype everywhere we start thinking that over-promising and under delivering is what works when in reality the exact opposite is true.

To achieve the first step you need to see beyond your own needs. Your web presence is a reflection of what you have to give - not what you want to get. It works kind of backwards to ordinary thinking but it works just the same.

STEP 2

We publish our Internet presence through the words we choose to identify ourselves online

Develop your keyword profile. Start by writing down one word that best defines the content for each of your major pages. Use that keyword as the name of the HTML file. If you can, use it again as the first word in the title. Work that word into the description and in the first paragraph on the page. You will end using each keyword about 5-8 times. Make double sure the keyword you used will lead them to compelling content. If it does you will usually get a well placing position in most of the search engines. But we cant stop there.

Next use that keyword in as many combinations as possible, first just generate phrases then boil down your list. What you want to end up with 5 to 10 different points of view to introduce your content using your most important keywords. Nouns usually work out better as keywords. Some search engines give additional weight to keywords found within your URL.

I have about 12 main pages in my website; my theme is about sharing information, tools, and resources about home based Internet marketing. I find that by saving others the hassle of researching the best ways to market their product or service free, I create added value to my content. Most people are more than happy to purchase carefully selected services through my website.

I can even afford to offer links my best competitors because cooperation is a key to on-line success, at least in my vision. Your vision may be different than mine but the process will be very much the same.

STEP #3

Develop Your website template first it serves as a graphic device that identifies your web personality. Its provides a common look and feel. A good template will provide links to all your other main pages on each main page. So in staying with our theme working backwards we develop the template before we develop the website.
Build your website into 10 or 12 separate websites over time. You want to have all the main pages linked on every main page. You continue to develop more content pages to link to your each of main pages. Instead of promoting your main home page promote every page separately as if each page was a complete website. Youll earn more traffic that way.

This step is ongoing. Over time you build a website around the content of each of your main pages. You are gradually developing website of websites.

All this activity develops to define your own distinct web presence.

Now you notice in this article I didnt mention how you get anything? There is a reason. In this model you give before you get.

IN CONCLUSION

Work on developing your web presence through compelling content. Spend a lot of time developing your vision and dont waste your money on developing your business until you have found your gift and developed a plan for sharing it.
Define and re-define your vision as you develop additional content for your website. Its the content that attracts visitors but its your choice of keywords and keyword phrases that best defines your Internet presence.

When the content on your website is defined properly the search engines work for you. Why trick or fool the search-engines, instead regard them as your partners.
