If you have a website or an ezine, you know that the absolute hardest things involved in running both is to get visitors to your site and subscribers to your ezine. Well, fear not ... I'm here to teach you five techniques to achieve both in the easiest and FASTEST ways possible -- completely free!
EZINE AD SWAPS
This is the most common form of quick and easy free advertising, so you've likely heard of it before. Basically, you run a free ad in your ezine for another publisher, and they run yours. But, don't make the mistake of agreeing to swap for more than twice in a row the first time. If you don't get a good response, you can move to finding another ezine that much faster.
Before you offer or agree to run a swap, ask the publisher things like how many subscribers they have, how many ads they run per issue, if you can view a sample issue, where the classified ads are placed, etc. For a complete FREE guide of the most important things to look for when choosing an ezine to advertise in, read the following article:

This is when both you and another ezine publisher recommend each other's ezines on your "subscribe" pages. All your potential subscribers will need to do is check a box to subscribe to your ezine from another publisher's form, and click a button! No more sending e-mail to a "subscribe" address.
This is the FASTEST and MOST EFFECTIVE way that I've been able to increase my subscription rate, boosting it by 33% with only ONE publisher on the very first day. If you can find 3 to 4 quality publishers to co-op with, your subscription rate can explode!
Find someone that gets a few more subscribers than you get a day, and is DEDICATED to promoting their ezine. You don't want to be doing all the promotion while they're getting 'free' subscribers from your form. It's best if you use "recommendation style" ads instead of blatant ads on the forms, since recommendations get a much higher response.
WEBSITE AWARD JOINT VENTURE
If your website offers an award, after someone applies for it they should get transferred to a "thank you" page, or get a confirmation e-mail. This page or e-mail should restate how long it will take before the applicant's site is reviewed, or it might simply tell them "thanks" for applying. After the initial message is where YOUR promotional link will go.
Find a website and award that's related to yours, and trade award descriptions. Have the Webmaster put a link to YOUR award at the bottom of THEIR award "thank you" page or confirmation e-mail, and you do the same for them. It can look something like this:

Make sure to choose a Webmaster that has a very short e-mail message to do the joint venture with, so that your small promotional message will be read. More than likely, the award applicant will go directly to your site to apply for your award. It will only take a few seconds, and they'll appreciate having one less award to hunt down to apply for.
GIVE RECIPROCAL LINKS THE BOOT!
From one Internet marketer to another, reciprocal links AREN'T very effective. The return traffic that you get is usually little to none. This disappointing "trickle" of traffic is definitely not worth the headache it takes to find quality sites to link with. You want to trade 'TRAFFIC' with sites, NOT 'links.'
Which would you rather have -- hundreds of sites linking to you with no returns, or hundreds of VISITORS coming from a few well-placed links?
A fast and easy way to get more traffic to your website is to trade links on resource pages. As an example, my own "reciprocal link" pages are actually a general resource section. They're linked from major pages on my site to ensure that the Webmasters that trade traffic with me get a good return on their link.
Most links start out on the third page and work their way up due to how much return traffic they send, and how much their site improves. Exceptional resources go in one of the main categories on my site like Marketing, Site Promotion, Work From Home, etc.
Trading links for resource pages works better and FASTER than "reciprocal links." Who actually gives a hoot about those anyway? How many people do you know that visit your site, go straight to the reciprocal links, and say,
"Oh, GREAT -- JUST what I was looking for! Reciprocal links! I'd LOVE to see who's linked to this site!!"
Do YOU? I didn't think so.
Just make sure that you keep high standards for the sites that you swap with. The site should get a bit more traffic than yours, it should be relevant to your theme, it should always use honest business practices, etc. Having high standards about the sites you're willing to link with will make YOUR site a respected and quality resource.

An email signature usually looks something like this, and goes at the bottom of every email you send:

If you can find someone that sends at least 50 e-mails a day, (and you do the same), you're in business! You'll both be increasing your exposure by at least 50 eyes a day. Add each other's brief signature at the end of your e-mail messages, and increase your exposure instantly!

Tracking is essential for each of the five co-ops that I've shown you. You can do this by simply adding a few lines of "code" to each e-mail or URL link. If you add a question mark to a URL, you can put any alpha-numeric characters after it that you want.
For example, if I use "?easyway" at the end of the following URL <http://homebasedheaven.com/athome/?easyway>, I'll know that whoever clicks that link is coming from this article, "Increasing Traffic & Getting Subscribers -- The EASY Way!" Choose a code that's easy for you to remember and recognize.
For e-mail links, format the subject line in much the same way as you would a URL. For example, if you place an ad in "XYZ News" that requires prospects to e-mail you for info, use the format below:
You@whereever.com?subject=INFO-XYZ_News
Simple, see? :-)
All you need to add is "?subject=YourCodeHere" at the end of your e-mail in order to code the link. The subject line of that e-mail will be whatever comes after the equals sign (=) in the link. Be sure not to use underscores (_) instead of spaces, or your link won't work.
