The Fear of Follow Up
Category: Traffic and Tracking | Date: 2001-08-23 |
The average website gets a single visit from a prospect and that's it. Very few websites actually get follow-up traffic.
The problem is, most people don't know how to follow up with their customers. Once someone visits your website, it's up to you to entice them to come back.
An excellent way to do this is to send follow up email. Now, this is easier said than done.
Here are two hard and fast rules:
1. Give them a reason for giving you their email address. You can't just put a sign that says "newsletter" and expect people to subscribe. Offer them something in return.
2. Automate your follow up process. You should use some type of automated follow up system like the one that is included in the Foreverweb.Net hosting package. This will save hours and hours of your time.
The only limit here is your imagination. Take the time to set up an elaborate, but polite follow up system (based on people that request your information - don't spam), and you will watch your traffic soar.
