Looking for an excuse to hide icons on Desktop

I want to know if there's a free program somewhere that makes a pop-up type of a menu along the side of my desktop for Windows.

Here's the features I would like to see:

    • Can use the Desktop folders as a source for the icons, and allows me to move icons around.

    • Has some sort of tab functionality along the side of the desktop step up for grouping.

Actually that's all I can think of right now. I like my desktop layout, but with a single monitor and the size I tend to put my windows, I have to minimize windows quite a bit to get to my icons.
