    Date: 03/10/05 (WebDesign)    Keywords: tracker

    I'm new here. Please read!

If you go to my site you'll notice I need some SERIOUS help. I don't know how to do a billion things and I'd love to find someone who does forms of animation.

How do you add a music button to play a song on your site?

Can someone help me spoof up my site? I'll so give you my first born! I need your smarts!

******Also do any of you use statcounter.com? For some reason it doesn't work well with my LJ. Do you guys know any free IPS trackers that are really good - that will tell you a lot of detail?

    AxoSoft OnTime defect tracker

I thought I'd bring this nifty app to your attention. I'll start by saying that I'm not affilated with AxoSoft, I just happened upon their site one afternoon and found that they offer their bug tracking tool free of charge for single-user installations. They basically offer a Windows client, Web client and VS.NET client and database backend to a well featured bug and new feature tracking tool. It utilises a SQL Server database, so you'll need either a version of MSDE or SQL Server Personal Edition but obviously they're availble free of charge too.

After you've installed it, you can get a product key from the site to unlock the tool(s) you've installed indefinitely. I realise that outside of a team environment lone Developers often find it unnecessary to use such a tool, but I've found it to be pretty useful since installing it. So, I suppose YMMV :)

  5. javascript click tracker

Date: 05/18/05 (Web Development)    Keywords: php, mysql, browser, html, sql, java, tracker

I'm trying to create a javascript click tracker, but I'm having a problem. The setup is very simple so I'll just give the code.

    index.html
    ---------------

    A Link

tracker.php simply inserts the url of the link into mysql.

The problem is very strange. Everything works fine if the files served from my local machine. If I upload it to the server things get weird. It doesn't work with firefox from my office (3 different machines and 3 different versions), but it works with firefox from every other place (home, friends, etc). It works fine with IE and Konqueror. Note: I did change localhost in the js function to the proper value for the server. It works if I go directly to the URL that's in the javascript so it seems that that line isn't exucted by my local firefox browsers. Does anyone have an ideas on this? Is there a free click tracker script that any of you know of? (free as in I can see the code)

  6. BitTorrent trackers

Date: 06/03/05 (PHP Community)    Keywords: php, linux, tracker

Hi guys! I'm thinking of running a BitTorrent tracker on one of my sites so I can share my own compositions with friends.

As it stands now I'm posting the music I'm working on to one of my sites, but since each MP3 is ~6 megs, that's a lot of bandwidth I'd rather not see go down the drain.

Anyway, my question: What's a good BitTorrent tracker? I don't need anything fancy, just something that's easy to setup and use and works happily with a Linux server. And preferably PHP.

  8. Frustrated with BBClone and other web trackers....

Date: 08/09/05 (WebDesign)    Keywords: php, html, web, tracker

I have tried to get BBClone to work with our (.shtml-page format based) website, and it's proving more and more frustrating than productive. It will be perfect once our redesign is complete and PHP is integrated...but for now, I can't seem to get it working properly.

Our server has a full-on web tracker program already installed for most tracking needs, but I am in need of a simple program that can track and count hits for a "Top 10 visited stories" feature we need to run & update weekly.

If anyone has experience in a newspaper/journalism website formats with a program/counter like I am needing...info or help would be much appreciated!

  10. Web Counters/Trackers

Date: 09/16/05 (Web Development)    Keywords: software, virus, web, tracker, google

    Hi everyone,

I'm a total newbie, and I have a question about web counters/trackers. Is there any web counter software (particularly something free) that you would recommend? My boss wants something that will track not just individual hits, but individual users (who may or may not have repeat visits), repeat visits, etc. I've done a search on Google and found quite a few free ones, but I want to be sure there isn't a hidden cost to them (pop-ups, viruses, whatever).

Something free is best, but if you know of a company that sells a really good counter/tracker, I'd be happy to hear about that too.

And as a last resort, is it difficult for somebody who knows web design (not me!) to come up with one on their own?

I'm afraid this may be an elementary question; so I apologize in advance if it is, or if it's been discussed before (please provide the link!), or appears in a community FAQ (I couldn't find one -- if it exists, please let me know).

  12. Envelope Printing Application

Date: 10/13/05 (Computer Geeks)    Keywords: tracker

    Greetings all-

Checked versiontracker.com, didn't see anything that seems to do what I'd like.

I'd like an application where I can load / type in an address and have it print on an envelope. Simple enough, hell, Word can do this. What I'd also like is the ability to also have the return address printed in the corner, perhaps even with a watermark. I suppose I could do it in Photoshop as a picture, etc....but I'd like an app where I can not only print recipient address, but have a custom graphic for the return address, or a graphic with text over it.

I suppose saving the addresses would be a benefit as well.

Perhaps Word can do this and I'm just incompetent. Any thoughts?

    Thanks all!

  13. Legal Bit Torrent Question

Date: 11/09/05 (Computer Geeks)    Keywords: tracker

I'm attempting to create some bit torrent files, and I'm having a bit of a rough time configuring everything between the tracker, my torrent, and having computers behind a router / firewall. If someone could IM/PM me, I'd appreciate it. Read bunches of FAQs, but something is just not clicking, and a 1 on 1 conversation would be great. All my messengers (AIM, YM) are on.

And yes, in accordance with the FAQs, none of this material is copyrighted or otherwise illegal. Thanks!

  17. Logging package/systems

Date: 02/05/07 (PHP Community)    Keywords: php, tracker

Originally I was looking to incorporate phpOpenTracker into our project( enteprise level +15k daily users) to record impressions, hits, and then modify the schema to add on system/application auditing. But before I start ripping into the code, is there any other open source packages that can handle some sort of weekly merge table schema along with doing internal logging of user actions (guest and authenticated users). I started writing my own logging engine, and that is most likely the best way to go, but I am running short on time.

Another package I found was TraceWatch, but it's pretty useless (non-GPL, obfuscuated code, and no suggestion of being able to purchase a license == dead end). My requirements is that we can modify/edit the entire system to our needs, it needs to be as flexible as possible (lots of lookup tables to reduce information replication), and of course GPL'd/open source or available for licensing.

    Any suggestions?

    Hello.

This is a total plea for help. I consider myself very computer literate, but I don't know javascript. I'd like to have this cute little knitting progress tracker appear on my LJ, but I can't seem to figure out exactly where to paste the code. I can host the images on my own, so that's not the problem. If anyone can try to explain to me what to do, I'd be super appreciative! If you need to talk to me, you can get me on AIM as Neoqbacca or MSN as blakehr@gmail.com

Here is the website that explains the code and how to make it work:

I am pasting it here after encoding it from the webside listed on your community's info.
