I need to buy a laptop for college in case for some reason my computer internet was to go out, or I go on vacation. I do online school, so I need to be able to post my homework at all times.

Have any of you ever bought a recertified computer? I don't need something high tech and expensive. I found one on newegg that's a Recertified: Gateway ML6230 NoteBook Intel Celeron M 520(1.60GHz) 15.4" Wide for only $399. There's also a HP 530 (GU330AT#ABA) NoteBook Intel Celeron M 420(1.60GHz) 15.4" Wide for $499, which is new. i'm leaning towards the cheaper one, duh, haha but I just wanted to see if anyone has bought a recertified laptop before and had luck with it.

also my father said something about gateway going bankrupt? is that true?
