always ask before opening this type of file

i feel stupid for asking such a simple question. but,

when you click the 'download' button, there is a little option that says "always ask before opening this type of file" regarding where you want to save your download. well i clicked it and i cant figure out how to get it back. i am connected at 10 Mbps, so most downloads are done in half a second.

then i had an idea of downloading a larger file so i had time to turn that button back on, but it was 'greyed' out so i didnt even have that option anymore.

    anybody have any ideas?
