Random Freezing

I posted a month ago about how my computer kept on freezing. I had done what some people had suggested but I still have the problem. It does it whenever my computer writes frequenty (downloading large files, copying dvd's, installing large progrmas, etc).

    I've tried the following:

    • Repair install

    • Update drivers (vid, mobo, sound)

    • Update windows XP SP2

    • Checked all connections to/from IDE Bus

    • Ran MEMTESTx86 for 17 hours came up with nothing.

    • Norton Disk Doctor comes up with nothing

I'm out of ideas. My hard disk is older, so maybe the write heads are wearing out? Bad Power Supply? Any help would be lovely.
