Ok, so I don't know if this is "HTML" or not and also it even though I'm showing another site, I want to utilize it for LJ too....

Does anyone know how to create this effect with the pictures?::

specifically, you see how her pictures look grayish but when you mouse over them they become their original state.

P.S. If you want to throw in the code that this community uses for their links (when you mouse over, it looks like a shadow?), that'd be sweet.
