Firefox 3 runs slow on AMD 780g chipset...

Around two weeks ago I upgraded my system with a mainboard which has the AMD 780g chipset onboard instead of a graphics-card. It works very fine, under all conditions... except under Firefox 3.0.3 (Windows XP SP3). Yes, I already updated the drivers, but the problem is still there. And when I browse the AMD Forums, many others do have the same problem and nothing worked. AMD is aware of this problem, but they blame Firefox for this, which I just can't believe. My old system had a ATI graphics-card (AGP) where I didn't have this problem at all. Why didn't I keep that card in the system? Well... the mainboard doesn't have AGP anymore.

Does anyone else have this chip and know this problem and - maybe - know a solution, instead of waiting for AMD moving their asses and bring out a working driver?
