Date: 06/17/05 (Mozilla) Keywords: browser OK, here's the deal: I would like to set up two different configurations of Firefox. One would be my primary browser for everyday browsing, and the second would be a browser with different extensions and configuration options for when I am working on projects. My first thought was to find a way to install a second, separate/independent version of Firefox, but that would be rather cumbersome and I am not even sure if I could actually do it. I started reading a little bit about the "profiles" though, and that seems like the ideal solution. The thing is, I would like to set it up so that when I open up Firefox, it loads my primary browser by default, but I want to have a second shortcut that would load up Firefox directly into the alternate profile (bypassing the "Choose User Profile" dialog"). Is there a command line that would load a specific profile? That way I could have Firefox set to load the primary profile by default, but I could create a second shortcut in my start menu that would have the command line to open Firefox directly into the alternate profile. If this much is possible, is it also possible to have two separate Firefox windows open at the same time using the two different profiles? I am guessing that I can't have the two profiles in use by the same application at the same time, so would it be possible to make a clone of the .exe that could be used to run the secondary profile? In other words, to have two Firefox applications running at the same time but using different profiles? Source: http://www.livejournal.com/community/mozilla/293173.html
