Auto-detect proxy settings?

How can I tell Opera (8.54 on WinXP) to "Auto-detect proxy settings for this network", which is the only way I can get Firefox to work on our corporate network. I can see (in Preferences -> Advanced -> Network -> Proxy Settings) that I can set up specific proxy info, but I don't have that info - both IE [/spit] and Firefox are simply set to auto-detect.
