Thanks, everyone, for your advice from yesterday. I downloaded the trial version of Photoshop CS, but I'm having the same problems with it hanging or crashing every time I try to open an image. There must be something else going on.

Also, I noticed that all .JPG files are being identified as Image Ready files, even though I left Photoshop as the primary image editing program. Is that normal? I'm wondering if part of the problem is that there is a conflict between Photoshop and Image Ready.
