This is driving me nuts...

I have a laptop that's about 1 1/2 years old and for the whole time I've had it I've been using wireless internet on it.  But today I got on it and the little symbol was crossed out.  It says- WLAN: Disabled.  So I thought all I'd have to do is enable it and tried but it won't even give me that choice, it won't let me do anything to fix it!  I didn't do anything to make it happen in the first place.  I shut it down thinking that might help but it didn't.  Does anyone know what the problem could be?  Is it something wrong with my computer, or the internet connection?  I just got a new wireless router and I've been having some problems with that but usually I can fix it and I'm not having problems connecting on a regular computer.  I really want my internet back!  So if someone can help me thanks a lot!
