Problems with my USB ports? Maybe? meep...

Ok, so Im using a HP Pavilion dv1000 laptop, its less than a year old and... Im having issues. Fortunatly its still under warrenty, but if at all possible I'd like to avoid the trip to the service center (with people who tend to replace things that usually dont need to be replaced e_e).
So heres my issue. After a few months of use I started having problems with my touchpad and wireless mouse that came with my computer. Actually come to think of it I have had problems with the wireless mouse since I got the thing, but I just thought it was the battery that was low or something. But then my wireless mouse would die, and after a few minutes my touchpad would go too. At first it wasn't so bad cause I could restart my computer and my touch pad would come back but not my mouse. Then it started to get bad. My touch pad would freeze up and in the worse cases, I would get 3 or 4 warnings that my USB ports weren't working and then a BSOD (Blue screen of death). After I got a BSOD, it wouldn't even boot up for a good couple of hours.
Now, if I turn off my computer and turn it on again the touch pad will work for about 5 minutes and then stop functioning (same with the wireless mouse). I found a way to by pass this though. If I let the laptop sit undisturbed for 10-20 minutes, when I come back to it my touch pad and wireless mouse will be working fine and I wont enounter any problems. I got into the habit of never turning off my computer, but Im starting to get really frustrated with this. Especially since its a new computer.
I have some expierence working with Desktop hardware, but I've never come even close to laptops. Is there anything I can do to remedy the situation?
