CD driver deleted

Recently on our old Pentium II/ Win 98 PC, my mom installed a printer that is also an external hard drive. The printer took the drive name D:, which was previously the name of our CD drive (40x speed, if that makes a difference). My mom renamed the printer to E:, but the computer still could not find a driver for the CD-ROM. The catch is, I can't download a driver, because the drive came with the computer which is a discontinued model from a company (Patriot) that went out of business ages ago. Does anyone know where I could get a generic CD-ROM driver that would work?
