I just upgraded my friends Windows 2k to XP, and now when I shut the computer down it hangs on the "Windows is shutting down..." screen, but never actually shuts down or says it's safe to shut the computer off. Any thoughts on how to fix this?

The machine is one of those generic HP Vectra office computers that everyone was liquidating two years ago, if that helps.
