odd network problems

At some random point today, a few applications decided that they didn't feel like accessing my network.. Specifically, the iTunes store, gmail notifier, and my LJ client (Semagic). Now, Firefox runs fine, as does bittorrent (uTorrent), Last.FM, Skype, & Trillian; but the previously mentioned 3 still hate me..... I've tried to do a system restore and that didn't accomplish anything, so now I am left scratching my head as to why these applications aren't connecting like everything else.... Am I completely missing something here?
