Avast v. AVG

Date: 12/18/07 (Computer Geeks)    Keywords: software, virus

So, I've been perfectly happy with AVG...until recently. There have been many times where it's required me to restart my computer, which is a bit annoying, since when I get on, it's because I need it and my computer takes approximately the length of a shower to boot up (a separate problem in itself...).

My question is...does Avast do this? Or is it a new thing with anti-virus software to need updates?

    Thanks!
