I have a .wmv file of some video that I'd like to be able to put on a DVD or VCD so it can be watched using a regular DVD player. Windows Movie Maker will write it out to a DVD but the resulting disk will only be playable on DVD players that support something called 'HIMAT', which very few do and mine certainly doesn't.

The other software I've got needs a .avi file.

Can anyone reccommend any software that will either make a playable DVD from a .wmv or convert a .wmv to .avi.
