wireless access point

Does anyone know of a really well supported wireless access point?
I installed a netgear rangemax access point (the one with the cool lights) at a clients conference room. Most people can connect to it fine, but they had a fairly important person come in who couldn't access it due to incompatibilty problems (he had a dell laptop with onboard wireless, plus netgear are known for rubbish wep implementation). I solved the problem temporarily by turning off wep encryption, then he could access it fine.
This is a fairly important client, so I need a really well supported access point that works with as many wireless cards as possible.
