1. Image Maps & Frames?

    Hi, this is a non-LJ specific question. I'm looking for help regarding putting together an image map and having the links open up in a specified text box (... frames?)

    So, it's kind of like the few links on the image maps like About Me, Entries, Tag (etc) will all open up new windows in the same entry box (i.e. the page does not LOAD another time, just that window loads and shows you different content) I've been told that this is something called iframes (urm) - really, really do require assistance from anyone who can teach me how to code such a #@!@! thing in HTML (most likely for a blogspot account).

  2. How do I get my webpage to look the same on all resolutions?

    Newbie here. *waves*

    So, I've reached absolute last nerve with this. I don't know much about HTML/CSS but I tried to start up a website (HERE. Please ignore my comments. XD) not too long ago. I have a 800x600 resolution and am tryin' to use div layers. I'm tryna make my my website "expand" (like the header an' stuff) for people with larger resolutions. I read somewhere that you set that height an' width to 100%, so that it takes up that amount regardless of the resoulution..but I think that's if you use tables instead of div layers. T__T
    Does anyone know the correct way to do this? Cause I know there's a way..I jus' can't find it. ;_____;


    Any help would be appreciated, seein' as I have a massive lack of skills. T__T

    Hey everybody. Does somebody know where I can get Photoshop for free? I just went to CompUSA.com to check out the price for Photoshop. I thought it was going to cost 50 or 60 dollars. But my jaw hit the floor when the price was actually $700!!!.

    Does anyone know where I can get it for free? And I don't mean a 30 day trial. I don't mean to sound picky or demanding but I want a version of Photoshop that will last on my computer forever! Or a couple of years at least. LOL. I would greatly appreciate the person/s who help me. And in return if I get my photoshop you can request icons from me (as soon as I learn how to make them) :)

  4. Separate pages for Friends entries and Community entries

    I am completely new to this whole code/html thing and I've no idea how to separate my Friends entries from the Community entries. In a post by someone else, a list of links were listed

  7. friends only

    i just recently went friends only. i have gone back entry apond entry and made them friends. but now they show my entries from a year ago. i have had my journal since 2001. would i have to go through all of those enrties to have it just show my friends only sign? or is there a code to make them all hidden? or just delete them?

  8. Generator Style

    I'm trying to change my journal look a bit. I was hoping to have the width of my journal entries shortened a little, with the header banner on top, and the border a solid black 1px, like this example here? What would be the combined html code for this, please?


    Also, if I were to get the stronger accent of my journal entries to look like this, and then have a header on top, what would someone be able to give me the html for that?

    Okay I have 2 questions.

    1. How do you make that little scroll box that you can put html code in and be able to post it on your journal? So I could see <*b*> (minus the *'s) instead of bold.

    2. How can I make it so I can have a seperate link for communities instead of them showing up on my friends page? My last layout was like that, but someone else obviously did it for me.

    i'm pretty fluent in frames, and know that there are other ways around it, but they're what i'm comfortable with. i made a graphic which is roughly 800X1200, and i have cut it into different sections for the frames. all of this is fine and dandy, but is there a way for me to have the entire frames scroll? i can get each individual frame to scroll, which isn't what i want, but instead i want the viewer to be able to scroll from the top most frame down to the bottom without breaking up the graphic... is this possible?

  11. Navigation Question

    Hi there. I have a pretty basic question.

    I am doing a layout for one of my communities '[info]'iconnovice and my dilema is that the customized links show up the right way in Internet Explorer but not Firefox. I used the coding from the memories that '[info]'carriep63 posted. Like I said it looks great in IE, but I cant get it to look right in FF. It just shifts down.

    Is there a way to get around this at all?

    Here is the override in case I missed something somewhere.

    Hi guys, got this code to create a multiplication game for primary school children. But we are stuck on how to write vbscript for the end user to display "a question right". We also need this line to keep adding the number of correct answers, and to display the result. So that the last page will say "5 question right with images of 5 gold stars next to it.   16. image mapping and iframes

    this has nothing to do with livejournal layouts, it has to do with website designing, but i didn't know where else to go to ask this question.

    okay so:
    i understand image maps.
    i understand iframes.

    but, what i DON'T understand is how to link the two together.


    i am making a band's website.

    the background is image mapped (news, shows, band info, media, contact). there is a space in the background for iframes to go.
    how do i link each of those separately into the space where iframes is suppoed to go?
    i know how to get iframes into the page, but not so that every time i press a new link, all that changes is what's in the space for iframes, and not the entire page.

    what i want: one main page. iframes inside of it. each time a link is pressed, only what is inside the iframes box changes.
    what i do NOT want: several pages that look the same but with different information inside the iframes box. (i.e. if you start off on "news" and click on "shows" it brings you to another page entirely instead of just having what's inside of the iframes box change)

    (i didn't know how to write that coherently... i hope at least someone understood it).
