Date: 12/18/04     Keywords: java, web, google

Keith posted an interesting article countering the hype generated by Google Suggest & GMail - Google Suggest and GMail are a step backwards I think there are two things which makes Google Suggest interesting. People now realize there is a way to use javascript for live update of sections in a webpage, which for some strange [...]

  2. And I didn’t play video game all this time thinking it would be a waste of time!

    Date: 12/18/04     Keywords: microsoft

Scientist at UCSC thinks that playing video games helps learning early that success is a game. As if we didn't have enough way to divide the world yet! Mr. Beck and Mr. Wade divide the world into two groups: those who grew up with video games (the gamers) and those who did not. So Microsofters [...]

Date: 12/18/04     Keywords: browser, web, microsoft

Some interesting quotes from the article: FIREFOX is a classic overnight success, many years in the making. Firefox is a Web browser that is fast and filled with features that Microsoft's stodgy Internet Explorer lacks. For the first time, Internet Explorer has been losing market share. Today, it's the Internet Explorer code that is long overdue for a top-to-bottom [...]

  8. Why does my Google Desktop search contact internet?

    Date: 12/14/04     Keywords: google

Occassionally Google Desktop Search contacts internet, even when I am not using it. This makes me nervous. It feels intrusive to have something which can view and possibly ( not that I would doubt Google of commiting such an act... or would I?) send critical financial information out of the computer. I have blocked [...]

    Date: 12/12/04     Keywords: php, web

Using php 5.x is not documented in the manual, there are lots of questions with few answers, redundant hints etc. Even php 4.x users will benefit from this as it shows how to enable php only in a single web application, instead of all web applications as all the existing docs state. Enjoy!

I think a clear organization pattern emerges in layoff strategies. Single big layoff is much better for employee morale than multiple small layoffs. With multiple layoffs people always remains on the edge and fear that their turn is next in the next round. Productivity drops and gossiping abounds, with some doomsayers causing most damage.
